V.1 Contract Extension (20 WBs + escalation)
A. Owners may elect to extend any ONE player's contract by one (1) contract year. The cost of extending this one (1) player by one (1) year is 20 WBs. This includes all players acquired via trade, waiver wire pickup, or originally on roster regardless of their current contract. A player does not have to be a restricted free agent to receive an extension.
The RWP will designate a thread for this tag on the forum. Owners may post their intended tag and edit that post until the deadline at which point the thread will be locked and the tags posted will be applied.
B. If an extension is given to the same player in consecutive years, the WB cost would double to extend the said player ($40, $80, $160, etc...). This escalator remains with the player even if he has changed teams.
(example) Team Z extends DJax in 2010 and trades him during the season, then Team X tries to extend him in 2011. Team X would have to pay the escalator clause price since it is consecutive years for the player DJax.
C. It is up to owners to know the status of players on their team as well as the ones they are trading for and there is no rule that a team has to disclose this information when trading a player away. It is also not the job of the RWP to notify someone of this fact when a trade occurs.
V.2 Super Franchise Tag (100 WBs)
This tag allows owners to avoid the RFA session altogether and the player remains the property of the franchise that places the tag on him. The player can then be assigned a new contract of any length. Teams can use one Super Franchise Tag each year. Super Franchise Tags cannot be banked for use later. It is a "use it or lose it" option.
