3. Manningham believes he's a No. 1 receive... (Rotoworld) Free agent Mario Manningham believes he's a No. 1 receiver and wants to be paid accordingly. Analysis: Manningham certainly hasn't proven to be a consistent go-to receiver, capable of beating double teams. Worse, he revealed in early December that there were "things floating" in his "weak and unstable" knee. We've yet to see reports of Manningham undergoing surgery to correct the problem.

Just thought this was pretty good seeing how this guy can't catch for shit. IMO

Except when he needs a once-in-a-lifetime catch to beat my Patriots. Mad

But yeah. PREDICTION: Manningham signs somewhere for too much money, and we never hear from him again.

Manningham blows.

And the 49'ers take him...

Quote :
SAN FRANCISCO (AP)—The San Francisco 49ers landed another wide receiver in
a headline-making week for the NFC West champions, agreeing to terms Saturday
with free agent Mario Manningham on a two-year contract.

Hoping that contract is no more than what Skins paid Morgan but I still like the signing. If Moss sucks it out lining up Manningham and Crabtree is not bad.

Well if this receiving core is unimpressive, last years must have been super duper crapalicious.

Albeit it isn't the sexiest or best crew of wideouts, tight ends, and runners. But it sure is better than last years crew. If they add the precision arm of Manning that would help a lot in taking everyone up a notch. Another question that needs to be answered and only time will tell, what Randy Moss shows up?

I think that depends on which QB comes. Although, I would not expect a lot anyway.

Do you think Peyton has called Eli to ask how bad Manningham really is?

Its like they took last years crew, tied a ribbon to it and thought like it was new and beautiful. Yuck.

Smith sure will be hard up for WR help. Davis should get a lot of looks

Manningham told CSNBayArea.com that "the chemistry is simply not there with [quarterback Alex] Smith, yet." Analysis: Manningham caught a season-long 22-yard pass from Smith in the closing minutes of Sunday's loss to the Vikings, but the two have not connected the way everyone had hoped after a solid preseason. "We're still trying to get on the same page," Manningham said. "We're not fully on the same page like we want to be -- me and him or him and the other wide outs. But I feel like we're getting there."

It doesn't help that Manningham just isn't that good.

San Francisco 49ers WR Mario Manningham (knee) was placed on Injured Reserve. DL Tony Jerod-Eddie was signed from the practice squad.

Never before has one man made so much money off one catch.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

So much money for one catch.

Manningham (knee) has been running and cutting during his injury rehab. Analysis: Manningham is recovering from an ACL and PCL tear, which he suffered back in December. His status will be crucial for the Niners with Michael Crabtree now out with a torn Achilles tendon.

Too bad he just isn't very good. shrug

Manningham (knee) may not be ready at the start of the regular season and could open the year on the physically unable to perform list, NFL.com reports. When asked if Manningham would be ready for the regular season, Jim Harbaugh answered "at some point." Analysis: Manningham has been recovering from both an ACL and PCL tear in his knee, an injury he suffered back in December. With the strong possibility that he won't be ready to open the year playing, both A.J. Jenkins and Quinton Patton could see a major increase in their roles with the team.
Interesting.  I thought he'd be ready.

Manningham (knee) wasn't listed on the 49ers' injury report Wednesday. Analysis: Activated just Monday from the PUP list, Manningham was immediately thrown into the fire, as he missed no aspect of practice. It remains to be seen his athleticism following two torn ligaments in his left knee last December. All that aside, though, the 49ers have only produced two capable receiving threats this season -- wideout Anquan Boldin and tight end Vernon Davis -- and Manningham will attempt to join them with a handful of targets to go around.
I've watched Manningham play for a long time. The guy isn't a difference maker. He is a decent #3 guy and a hell of a lot better than anyone else behind Boldin and Davis. Hopefully he can open things up more for those guys.

The Giants released Manningham (calf) from injured reserve Tuesday, Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports reports. Analysis: Manningham suffered a calf injury late in the preseason, resulting in his placement on IR, but he was the roster bubble long before then. The 28-year-old missed the first half of last season while recovering from a torn ACL, and he caught just nine of 23 targets for 85 yards in six games with the 49ers when healthy, so it's hard to imagine he'll garner significant interest now that he's a free agent.

I wish they released him prior to the 2011 playoffs. Still hurts, that catch.
