He's going to need a screw. Jones is saying 3-6 weeks, Jene Bramel is already saying that that is extremely optimistic for this level of surgery, could be out of the regular season.

Isn't this the injury that shut down a season of Julio Jones? 3-6 weeks, lol.

With the week 6 bye he should be back week 7 I'd think. If what Jones says has any amount of truth anyway.

6 weeks sounds pretty optimistic to me. Surgery with hardware being put into ones foot sounds more like months with a plural than weeks. Guess it depends on ones pain threshold some, but it is hard to move and make make cuts when your foot is shooting pain through your leg and up to your brain.

As for what JJ has to say, he has to protect the moral of the locker room and the the bottom line (fan base/ticket buyers). If he speaketh the truth and says Dez is done for the year two things are likely to follow .... one the clubhouse becomes a somber affair for a week or two immediately and the fan base may not purchase those tickets to Jerrys playhouse for that October or November game.

I have Dez in 3 of my 5 leagues. This sucks. PLEASE be back sooner than later, but I am bracing for the worst case scenario. Next man up!

The Cowboys really have no depth behind Dez. Pretty glaring weakness now.

Time to see what Romo is made of huh? He did his best yesterday without Dez, but let's see a lengthy stretch of success.

Rumor is now 8-12 weeks. Only time will tell.

With someone like Dez you also have to factor in the possibility that he may do something stupid while recovering.  I don't trust him and that's a lot of free time in the next few months.

I don't really have any doubts what Romo is made of. His reputation as a choker or whatever has been irrelevant for awhile.

This is kind of what happens when these guys sign big ass contracts in the offseason. I'm hoping Demarious Thomas doesn't follow suit...

I bet you Dez is happy he signed that deal now. Reminds you how dangerous it is to turn down guaranteed money abd gamble that you'll stay healthy. It paid off for Flacco but I think that most players should take the final and best offer before the season starts. While most may do better by waiting, is that added benefit worth risking the chance that you aren't the guy that gets injured?

If him being out that long is true I don't know why the Cowboys wouldn't IR/Return him. Seems strange.

Ya, sounds like the timetable keeps getting stretched. Dez seems the type to rush back as soon as he can.

I agree with Justin though, the best thing would be putting him on the temp IR

From what I'm hearing is the team doesn't want to put him on the IR/Return list to keep him mentally engaged with the team and his rehab. They want to make sure he sticks around the whole rehab process and want him on the sideline during games.

Another update -

Quote :
Source says bone graft performed during Dez Bryant foot surgery enhances prospects for him to return in around 6 weeks. Team prepared for 8

Sounds like everyone is guessing.

Well now Romo is going to be out for a long time, so by the time Dez is ready, the Brandon-Weeden lead team will be 1-9 anyway so they won't bother bringing him back.

1-9? That'd be a feat since they're already 2-0 haha

If anyone could pull off a -1-9 record, it's Brandon Weeden.

That's a lot to take in but I tend to agree with it's conclusion. It's all about the price and value for me on whether he's worth taking.

"The question posed by the air yards model appears to be: what does WR1 production for Bryant in Dallas look like?"

Answer:
"-Prescott will probably need to make a step forward in this regard in 2017 for Bryant to outperform his air yards projection
-Bryant’s game is predicated on winning at the catch point and then using his size and strength to muscle his way to extra yardage. It’s a very physical form of play. If Bryant’s age or recent injuries have sapped some of his ability to create after the catch, his production will suffer."

Not sure if it's DAK, or the Cowboy's offense as a whole. But, they will have to let him throw more, for Bryant to hold top 10 value...what say you Zeke owners? laughing
