PostSubject: Bern Those Stats - Game #2   Sun Sep 24, 2017 12:19 am

Game #2 is official as I don't start compiling the stats until after the Thursday Stat Corrections.  Remember, I only count stats for players that are in the team's starting lineups.  Bench players are dead to me.  Bench players do nothing to help a team win!  Have I mentioned that before? shrug  Sure I'm interested that C.J. Anderson (MUSKIES) was the top scoring RB in the DD with 30.4pts.  As for the TT, I could care less what C.J. Anderson (GOON SQUAD) scored.  Why?  Because he was on the bench.  Why was he on the bench?  That's a question that needs to be answered by the head coach.  I don't worry about coaching decisions, I just worry about stats.  With that being said, here are the Top 5 Scorers at each position from each Conference.  The Top 50 will be in the follow up post.

Here are the Top 50 Point Leaders thru 2 games of the 2017 Roster Wars season.  In case you were wondering why these stats don't exactly match up with the point leaders on the MFL site, it's pretty simple.  I only track the stats of the players that were in the starting lineups of the 24 Roster War teams.  wink

Awesome work, Bern.

Amazing to me that there is only 1 WR in the top 50 and that's Crabtree. Show's how spotty the WR position is so far this year.

cheers

Next closest WR is Antonio Brown with 39.4pts in both Conferences.  Wondering if I should post the Top 100 to see if there's a wider split between conferences?   thinking2  Will also have to make sure it won't make the post too long.  But then again, is the attention span of RW members long enough to where they will scroll down all the way to 100?   poking

Sorry, what were you saying?

Top 100 would be very interesting if not too much work. I guess these things will start to level out but there has been plenty of talk about the disappointing start from the top WR's and this certainly bears that out.

cheers

Do these stats include bench players or only those in starting lineups?

I'm glad you asked because that could cause some confusion if I don't clarify what my intentions are. I understand that all NFL player accumulate stats. Those stats and averages are important to us as fantasy football participants. It helps evaluate each player and their fantasy value. It helps in making trades, free-agent pick ups, and even off season RFA decisions. Even for a stats nut like me, I like seeing the stats of ALL players.

Now that the fantasy season is upon us, the NFL games are now being played, the stats are being accumulated. MFL does a fine job of tracking those stats for total points and averages per game. However, something was missing. Participating in fantasy football, you have to decide on who to start and who to bench. Those starting lineups determine on who wins and who loses in fantasy football. In searching stats on MFL, there is no way to sort starter points and bench points. That's when I got to thinking, wouldn't it be interesting to see fantasy point leaders of Roster Wars players in starting lineups, based on Roster Wars scoring system? I'm talking players starting that helped your team win, or cost your team a loss. Bench players do not factor into those wins and losses. Therefore, I decided to track the stats of the 22 players from each team that are starting. Thus, ignoring the bench players. Honestly, if I were to track both starters and bench players, I would be duplicating what MFL already accomplishes.

So, to make a long story short, and not get too long-winded with what I am trying to accomplish, and to answer your question, my stats do not include the bench players. They are only players that are starting. I hope that sheds a little light to what I am doing. If it doesn't, and you have further questions, feel free to ask and I will shoot you back a quick, short, and precise answer.

I need my offense to start stepping up. My defense is getting it done, but my offense has been really underperforming

I am comfortable sharing that my RBs will never be in the top 5 this year.
