First, how in the heck with Carla roaming around is there already not a thread on this guy.

Second, I will be the first to admit I wrote this guy off. Wasn't even entertaining him being anything.

And I am not saying 1 preseason game all of a sudden makes him ready for that gold HOF jacket, but he looked poised and like he has been doing it for a hot minute.. I own Glennon as a QB3/QB4 in the Minors... Glennon might not be playing when it's time for him to actually hit my lineup.

Still not thinking he was worth trading up for...

I had him behind Watson but ahead of Mahomes and everyone else behind that. I wasn't expecting that though. He looked like he's done this before and had pretty good fundamentals, while Watson I was not as impressed with. Lets see it happen a few more times though.

As a 49ers fan, he was definitely worth trading up for.

John Fox and the Bears will ruin any hope you may have.

Was impressed with his mobility....it may be only game 1, pre season...not many 1's in the mix...still has he got "it"?

I admit he looked good but I'm still not on board with him. The real NFL, when there are actual schemes and starters playing, is a big difference than what he saw. Like most have said, time will tell.

I hope I'm not wrong because I'm not invested much in this QB class in any league. Just don't think they grade that well and I watched them a lot in college. I put all my eggs in the 'wait until 2018 QB class' plan.

I agree, felt like a very weak QB class to me as well. Mahomes and Watson were the same way in college, playing in very "college" offenses, where it can be hard to adjust to the pro style. I think a lot of that is the uncertainty though, because we only got to see Trubisky play 1 year, and his games weren't nationally televised all that often, so it can be hard to get a sense of the floors/ceilings of these guys.

When talking Bears QB's I like to use this analogy ... having eaten as much rancid meat as Bears fans have throughout the 90's, 00's and now the teens of the 2000's at starting QB, even a Big Mac starts to look like a Filet Mignon.

Everyone was tired of seeing Cutler on the Bears, we no longer have him. (although I never hated him, but he made me mad at times) We cannot keep doing what we were doing so now is the time for change. I am hopeful.

I really hope the Bears don't waste time with former Buccaneers backups and give this awesome rookie a chance.

And so the Trubisky era begins. . .

Quote :
Bears rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been named the starting quarterback against the Minnesota Vikings next Monday, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

I dunno. Glennon has looked awful but there are no receivers left to throw to. Can't see how throwing him in with this lot is going to help Trubisky's confidence.

I guess if he's serviceable with this receiving corps, he can do it with anything?

shrug

Super excited to see him. Glennon has just been awful. The problem is ----as what has already been stated....we are VERY low on receivers. It is like throwing to Bert and Ernie.

HOWEVER--------why dont we use Howard and Cohen like WR's like Matt Ryan does when Julio and Sanu sit out? Then sprinkle in a catch now and again by Wright and Bellamy and get the Sheehan Sims and ZMiller trio at TE on alert. It is bad, but Glennon was gawd awful. Embarrassing. Hated the minute we signed him. NEVER EVER EVER saw Glennon as good. Stupid move.

I love how Glennon outright refused to throw the ball to Sims. They got to start working those 2TE sets to get Shaheen some looks.

I gotta be honest I dont like this for ol Mitchell... Like what has been said, there are no WR's to throw i to and I honestly dont see him stepping in and doing much better than what Glennon was doing. Their issue is not a QB problem, at least that is not the most glaring one..

You expose a QB to early and shake that confidence and well, good luck with that investment. Ask the other Carr brother how that worked out for him in H-town

Is having Cameron Meredith back really going to make that much of a difference to the development of Trubisky? Giving him experience of playing in the NFL is surely more beneficial than watching Glennon play so bad it looks like sabotage. The offense needs to be run through Howard and Cohen anyway.

Da Bears have played well at home. They would have beat the Falcons if it wasn't for a Jordan Howard drop and they did beat the Steelers who are one of the best teams in the AFC. I think comparing the situation to David Carr is way off. Throw Trubisky in there and let him show something.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how he does...just seems like hes kind of a polarizing player given where he was drafted and his limited college numbers. Hopefully the vikes defense will eat him alive tho lol
