PostSubject: Building a Dynasty Contest   Fri May 26, 2017 12:00 pm

I've spoken with the Powers (or Power) that be and Andy has given me the OK to post this.

I'd like to challenge the skills of RW members with an NFL Draft Contest. It is called "Building a Dynasty". It is FREE and available to all members.

The premise is to have those that would like to participate build a team thru ONLY the NFL Draft each year. Participants will select 1 player from each round of the NFL draft each year. Players may be chosen by multiple teams.

Each year, you chose 1 QB, 1RB, 1WR, 1TE, 1 DL (can be a DT or DE), 1 LB and 1 DB (7 players each year). NO KICKERS. You can only chose 1 player per round each year. Stats will be compiled at the end of each year. Each year's results will be added to the team standings. In other words a running total will be kept. Taken players remain on your team until they leave the NFL. No trades or anything like that just pick 7 players each year. We will use what ever designation the NFL shows them on the NFL.COM Draft Tracker. Players will keep that designation.

Players taken next season will be added to your rosters with players taken this year. So let's say after 5 years you obviously have 5 players at each position.

We will use RW scoring formula and take each players points totals each year and add to the running total.

This is just a side game to test owner's ability to value rookie talent.

I will build a google sheet with link to keep up with the results. No extra work for management.

So if you are game, just post your 7 players.

I will post my list first to give an example.

Rd 1 - Jabrill Peppers, DB, Cleveland
Rd 2 - Demarcus Walker, DE, Denver
Rd 3 - Carlos Henderson, WR, Denver
Rd 4 - Joe Williams, RB, San Francisco
Rd 5 - Jordan Leggett, TE, NY Jets
Rd 6 - Jordan Evans, LB, Cincinnati
Rd 7 - Chad Kelly, QB, Denver

I figured all early QBs would be bust or backups in the next few years. So I just took Chad Kelly late in the draft. My biggest decision was on Monatvious Adams, DL, who was a 3rd round pick. I really wanted him and could have taken Curtis Samuel in Rd 2 and got my WR. But I liked Carlos Henderson too much so I took DeMarcus Walker in Rd 2.

Interesting game, and I'm all kinds of down with you picking 3 Denver guys there.

Why not? I'll give it a play.

Round 1 - Solomon Thomas, DE, 49ers
Round 2 - Curtis Samuel, WR, Panthers
Round 3 - Akhello Witherspoon, CB, 49ers
Round 4 - Joshua Dobbs, QB, Steelers
Round 5 - Marquel Lee, LB, Raiders
Round 6 - Bucky Hodges, TE, Vikings
Round 7 - Elijah Hood, RB, Raiders

I actually like the 1st round QBs but I was not gonna skip a future multi-year DPOY, so it came down to the other guys and (I know its a tired line) an aerospace engineer with an almost retired QB + one of the best skill groups in the NFL? Easy pick there. I immediately groaned when I saw Oakland take Marquel Lee in the draft. He should've gone higher and they don't have much depth in front of him. He's starting by the end of the year. After that, I don't really love anyone but I had to fill the rounds. Bucky Hodges is an interesting prospect. He's stuck behind Kyle Rudolph but he can split out and give them another receiving target, which they need if Laquon Treadwell doesn't perform better. Apparently Michael Floyd is challenging him for WR3, so it doesn't look great. I don't love Elijah Hood but Marshawn has been on the couch for a while now and even if he does well, he's still old. Who else do they have behind him? Jalen Richard. Okay.

I am up for the Prize part, but when I discussed this with Andy, he said that if we decided to do that then we'd have to set up or on fee system as it wouldn't be part of the finance system here.

Also my design was for it to be a running format so there is never really a winner as it just builds each year to see which owner puts together the best team over time. To have a prize we'd have to have yearly winners.

Up for for discussions. I am flexible.

I've got the first few teams set up. I put up a post with link and also included it in top post.

Let me clarify something I said...obviously I have no issue moving money from one person to another here if both parties tell me to do it (or at least the one sending it out) but ya'll have to account for everything. If one of you is holding some money for this and at some point is telling me to move X from their account to someone elses, I'm happy to oblige.

Have fun and thanks man.

if we do a prize thing you can always maybe do it were its voluntary -you only win if you wanna pay

you could do 1 prize for 1st place or - 1st,2nd,3rd

my idea that I think would be cool would be 10$ entry with 5$ going to a yearly prize and 5$ going to a bigger payout every 3 years (or 4 or 5)

Would it be possible to set up, say a "John Doe" account?  We would then tell you something like "Take $10 from my account and put it into John Doe's account."  We would be responsible for keeping track of who put money into John Doe's account.  And then when we determine a winner, we would say "Can you send $50 from John Doe's account to the NightHawks account." Or whoever else won. laughing

We would be responsible of tracking who's in & paid, and who wins and gets how much.  But there would be a "John Doe" account holding the funds.

Firstly, well done Cobra Andy (rather than Woody Andy) for a great idea. And to Eric and Bern for coming up with suggestions to make it a bit more spicy. I'm certainly interested in a $10 yearly fee with an annual payout and superpot in year 5 or something like that.

Here's mine:

1. DeShaun Watson QB
2. Zay Jones WR
3. Derek Rivers DE
4. Samaje Perine RB
5. Marquel Lee LB
6. Bucky Hodges TE
7. Josh Harvey-Clemons S

Several severe storms and possibly a tornado hit our county last night. Some of my family and friends had damage to their property and homes. I'll be out assisting them the next few days so it may be later this week before I get back to updating the Google Sheet.
