I also like the Mathieu trade for Jon. This guy is really good, and once he comes back it will be like he was never out half the year in 2016.

Ok, lets look at the facts. We have had three rookie drafts in Roster Wars, here are the picks:

2013

1.09 9. Utah Spazz Brown, Arthur BAL LB (R) Wed May 1 9:48:22 p.m. CT 2013

2014

9. Minnesota Eternals Robinson, Allen JAC WR (R) Fri May 16 9:37:53 a.m. CT 2014 117.80 Really like this kid...wasn't all that excited about him going to Jacksonville but the other weapons that were added to that offense should sure help. My #1 receiver and has been for quite a while...hopefully everything is a good fit in Jax and it clicks. (Comments Added Fri May 16 9:41:25 a.m. CT 2014)

2015

1.09 9. Las Vegas Degenerates Yeldon, T.J. JAC RB (R) Fri May 15 10:35:24 p.m. ET 2015 157.40 Was debating between him and one other guy... Can't argue against a true 3-down back with no competition for the starting job on a team that needs to protect a young/bad QB.

So in conclusion we have a mixed bag. A LB  that is a free agent, a stud WR that scored 288.20 points this past season, and a decent young rb (Yeldon) that had a decent season with  157.40 this season.

I really dont have to explain anything to you stud muffins since you all seem smart but the draft is a crap shoot as we can see by the 1.9 picks of the last three years. My team doesnt need lottery tickets it needs producers. I got guys that scored around 200 points last season plus a young rb for depth. So without really looking at the trade and teams involved I can understand why one might think that the Champ is winning again Neutral

IF IT WORKS FOR YOU, THATS ALL THAT MATTERS

Would you feel confident enough to franchise tag a guy coming off an ACL, especially with Jons loaded Roster I don't see him tagging Mathieu unless he comes back scoring 25pts a game off ACL surgery.

No - it would be an extension or a TT. An extension buys me a season or if he looks good and I TT him, he either gets a long term contract or I get a 2nd back so all good.

I only lose if he doesn't come back to the same level or at all. And it's only a 5th rounder - a chance worth taking.

cheers

Not sure which side I like more. Atlanta needed the QB and I do like Yeldon, but on the other side you have Laurinaitis and a 2nd...
I guess I lean toward Atlanta a bit but then again havent looked at contract years.

When people from the DD poke fun of TT's lack of trades, kindly remember that we don't have the same number of owns with substance abuse problems as there must be in DD.

Funny the overwhelming support for the deal makes me a) nervous laughing and b) think about how many days it took me to accept!

In the end I kinda looked at it like Crabtree had a lot of interest but nobody was offering more than the equivalent of a 2nd rounder. So 2x2nd rounders (one of which is late) for a talented young RB on a good offense seemed great value and then despite not being a real Dalton fan getting him for a middling LB and a 5th was good business in the RW format

Thanks Rob - here's hoping 2014 was the anomaly for Dalton...

To me... Yeldon was my 4th-5th-or-6th best running back (Devonta Freeman, Todd Gurley, David Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Arian Foster, Jeremy Langford).  Sure, he looked decent as a rookie.  But zero goal line carries is going to hurt his value.  Dalton had a decent season.  Injury concern not withstanding... Now that the team say McCarron in action... Dalton is a bad game or two from the entire fan base turning on him and demanding a change to the younger QB.

Getting Crabtree, who had a "breakout" season with Oakland is only going to continue to grow with that young team.  Will he be a stud... Hell no.  But he does give me a solid starting WR.  Lauranitis is a very solid mid-LB that will give me a consistent performance.  Both of those guys on 3-year deals.  Add to that the 21st pick in the draft and a 5th rounder...

Seemed like good value to me.  But what do I know.  I was pink.

Hey I agree it's a trade that has the potential to help both teams. A good trade. QB's are actually a bit overrated in leagues like ours.

Makes good sense Rob - I think this could do well for both of us, ie swapping a surplus at WR for one and RB for another

Right. In my opinion there should be very limited options for appeals, and if they are able to be heard, it would take something major to sway the original decision. I hate it that every player appeals everything. It strips all the power from the league, it is trash.

Simply make appeals this ... got a 3 game ban and want to appeal it for every game you want removed if you win, one will be added should you lose.

So a 3 game ban a player wants reduced to 1 game shows a 2 game decline. Great, player win he gets his 3 gamer reduced to 1 game. However, if the players loses then his 3 game bans grows to 5 games. Place a price on the appeal and waa-laa.

That would actually solve everything. Very rarely would a player risk having MORE of a ban. Great idea, call the commish!

I'm shocked this trade didn't get much conversation?

I'm really excited to get Lockett as my offensive rebuild is almost complete now. Sucked trading Bucannon, but had to get way younger on my offense. I have never ran a team with such young players, so this new way I'm going is actually kinda fun. I thought I wouldn't like having so many young offensive, guys but it's cool! cool2

I like Pigskins side. Matt is getting one of top players in league and here is what he gave up: Ingram who he wasn't going to protect, JMatt - good player with long contract (WR2), Graham who is no longer elite TE ( barely cracks top 10 TE), Low 1st round in 2017, and 2nds in weak 2016 draft. $40 WB is decent $. I like what Matt did a lot.
