| 1 Who are you? Where do you live? Hey everyone, my name's Edward. I live in Boston and work as a clinical psychologist specializing in combat-related PTSD. I grew up in Cincinnati, so I'm a long-suffering Bengals fan. But once I got into FF I realized I could put all the Patriots players that I hated to good use on my team. So between that and moving here, I've adopted the Pats as my second fandom. Hobbies include: PS4, lifting, trolling on Reddit, writing, and of course, fantasy football. 2 Tell us about your fantasy football experience, including the types of leagues you play in and where they are hosted. I've been playing for just 4 years now, and running my own dynasty league for the past 2 years. I'm going from 2 leagues up to 5+ this year, and branching out into IDP and larger leagues for the first time. 3 Why do you want to be part of Roster Wars...what drew your interest? I really appreciate the level of commitment everyone has here. That seems like a pervasive issue in FF - always a few people who just aren't as active/involved as everyone else, so I love the idea of a league where you know everyone is in it 100%. I also liked the idea of a larger community with its own history and culture. 4 How much time in a typical week do you spend on your fantasy football hobby? Ha. I'm the co-founder of a startup developing a new FF platform, so this has literally become a part-time job for me. I'd say I'm doing something fantasy-related about 20-30 hrs/wk on average. It only gets worse over time. But you know what they say: do what you love and you'll never work another day! 5 Talk about a favorite memory or crazy fantasy football related story. My third year of playing (1st year of dynasty) I managed to win both of my leagues, after not even coming close previously. There was a particular play where Bortles hit Arob for like a 90 yd TD which sealed the deal. Another favorite was when I picked up Latavius Murray in a keeper league before he started in his first game against KC. Unfortunately he was on my bench, but he had 2 TD's and about 120 yds on maybe 6 plays before leaving with a concussion, and I was convinced I had just grabbed the next AP for myself for nothing. 6 What do you think members of your other leagues would say about you as an owner? Dedicated, obsessive, highly-competitive, tend to try to talk shit and get shot down from multiple directions for my overly "cute" coaching decisions 7 Anything else you would like to add? I've been to 47 of the 48 mainland states, so if you're from the U.S., there's a good chance I've been by your team's hometown at some point! 8 Are you joining to be a friend of the league or are you looking for the first chance into the fray? Interested in joining the fray! |

I'm a new member as well. Go ahead and check out the rest of the site. There are so many cool history things about the owners and teams, and I'm still discovering it all.
Look forward to possibly competing with you in the Minors. |

Oh man, picking Mixon was such an obvious move for them I didn't think it would happen. We love the "character concern" guys. And by "love" I mean Marvin Lewis is the most apathetic person I've ever seen. I've got mixed feelings on Mixon of course, but just trying to just stay excited about what he can do for our non-existent run game. - Oaktown Malosos wrote:

Ha, looks like you guys helped his friend come to their own decision, which is about the best support you can ask for! I'll keep an eye out for more "friends" at a crossroads though. - Charm City Justice wrote:

Thank you for the work you do as well, that's amazing! Ironically, I was just watching Luke Cage and thinking about how tough it would be to work in a forensic setting. I don't think I could hack it! - Denver Demons wrote:

I'd love to hear about how things are going for you with that. And thanks guys. Yeah, IDP is bewildering. But I guess I had no clue what I was doing with offense/DST at the beginning, either! Pretty sure I drafted SEA in the 7th round my second year. People groaned. I thought I knew better. I was wrong. |

People groaned. I thought I knew better. I was wrong. Last season was my first time in IDP in the Roster Wars re-draft league. What I noticed is that the scoring here is pretty balanced for offense and defensive players, so when I lost out on an offensive player in the draft, I took an equally solid defensive player scoring wise and it worked out pretty well for my first stab at IDP. That doesn't mean I didn't make mistakes too with IDP. Ian Williams was a scoring stud on the defensive line so I was sure to draft him, but I forgot to research the fact that he was already out for the year with a season ending injury. No wonder he was still on the draft board. IDP is a blast as it opens up a lot of avenues for draft strategy or team-building strategy. |

Stick around. You'll enjoy it. And we recently had one person move from friend status to the main league and a few have entered the minor league ranks. Those that hang around usually want to become more involved. |

| Hey Mac, sorry for the slow reply. The platform is actually a place to play in season-long leagues, similar to MFL. The new twist we're bringing to the table is the addition of a "spell card" system that lets you give boosts to your players' scores (e.g., triple TD points, double yardage, all targets count as receptions) or weaken your opponent's players (reduce yards by half, knock a player out of the matchup etc.). Then there are even more chaotic effects, like giving boosts to every player in the league that's in a RL snow game. There's additional strategy involved in terms of budging your magic points, choosing which spell cards to acquire, and deciding whether to use them right away or wait and see how your players are performing. We also let you impact any team in your league, so hopefully people will interfere with matchup they're not even in, either for tactical reasons or out of spite It's pretty geeky, but should be a ton of fun for those who are up for this sort of thing. There's actually a FF league out there call the Power Hungry league that has a similar "super powers' concept, but I think it's just one league and the score modifiers are handled manually. Our will be online system to host unlimited leagues, with the scoring modifiers built right into the application. |

| Oh wow! That's an interesting concept. I definitely think I'd be up to giving it a shot, but I'd want to do a single season before I could ever commit to a dynasty format with it. Not even sure if you're building it for one way or the other. IMO, increased strategy is always good. And there's no competition in that market of the FFL community, so hopefully it takes off! Definitely keep us updated! |

| No problem! And yep - real time, online game. So imagine you're looking at your weekly matchup screen, and along the bottom you've got shortcuts to active different spell cards you've acquired, and the amount of magic points you have left to spend on them. When you decide to activate a spell, it goes into effect at that moment and only applies from then until he rest of the week. So if a player gets two TDs and then you use the spell that gives him triple TD points, you need him to score again to get any bonus points out of it. This will all be handled by the platform, so there's no hand-scoring or tracking required of the team owners. |
