Good thing Russell is getting paid so much money. Oh, and Rodgers is really good. That is all.

Amen to that!!

I didn't realize how bad Smith really was on 3rd downs.  Hopefully the coaching staff can get him to open it up on 3rd downs, or the Chiefs WRs are really going to struggle

Wow that is pretty bad, though I do think Kelce will help that number come up a bit this year...

I was surprised at how high on the list Cam Newton was, he gets alot of shit for not being that good...

Not an Alex Smith defender but I've always thought Reid called too many plays with receivers running short of the sticks.

My interpretation on this metric was targets, not completions can anyone confirm? So in effect it is tendency to target the receiver at the first down marker + or - # yards. Smith consistently targets short of first down, Rodgers well beyond first down marker. #completions irrelevant, yes?

OK, I overacted a bit.

It would just figure, just make a trade for him, not in my favor I know, then looks like he gets concussed.

So now it's obvious Cousins is on the move and Mahomes is now the starting QB in KC.  Let the QB shuffle begin.

Redskins signed QB Alex Smith to a four-year extension through 2022.
Quote :
As part of the agreement on the trade to get Smith to D.C., the Skins are giving Smith some long-term security, as he had just one year left on his contract through 2018. He's now under contract through his age-38 season. It very well may be his last contract. The Redskins didn't seem to have a prayer to re-sign free agent Kirk Cousins after burning so many bridges with their "franchise" quarterback. Acquiring Smith and paying him less was the next best thing.

Kendall Fuller to the Chiefs. That's a good get for them.

This works out kinda nicely for Smith owners I think.

Alex Smith had no problem utilizing Kelce over the years....Reed just would need to stay healthy

When you figure that Washington will essentially recoup the 3rd rounder with the comp pick they get for losing Cousins, I looks like a pretty good deal for them. They get a similar QB (although older) at a price point that allows them to sign other positions of need. I think this works out nicely for All parties.

I prefer Cousins over Smith but I think that the stability of having your QB in place on a multi-year deal at a reasonable price greatly exceeds the benefit of keeping Cousins.

I know that places like PFT were pushing the concept that Cousins was a genius and a hero for doing what he did. But I think that it just backfired on him. Yeah, he may make $120 million instead of $110 million (or 150 instead of 140) by the time that he retires but now he's gonna retire a Brown or a Jet. Not sure if that's a trade off that most would make.

Let's be real, the Browns and the Jets aren't THAT huge of a step away from the Redskins. I'd argue that the Skins have some of the worst ownership in the league.

Win for Smith and the Skins. Smith keeps his starting role and the skins get a starter that doesnt want to break the bank...
