Resigned per Schefter....

One less CB on the market: New York Giants reached agreement with cornerback Terrell Thomas.

With those 2 ACLs, not sure he'll ever return to what he was in '10.  Too bad, i thought he was going to be really really good.

Good for him. It will be great to have some strength in our secondary again. Prince didn't look too hot last year.

Great news - got him in one of my dynasty leagues and was hoping he'd re-sign with the Giants. Just got to hope he's over the injuries now.

pray

Rotoworld) Giants CB Terrell Thomas (ACL surgery) announced on his personal blog that he has "no limitations" entering training camp. Analysis: Thomas said he was 100 percent healthy back in May, so this is hardly a surprise. He'll be monitored closely by the trainersthroughout camp, but it appears he's ready to step back into the starting lineup opposite Corey Webster. In his initial 2012 rankings, Rotoworld's Jeff Ratclifferankshim seventhamong cornerbacks.
love this kid. Hats the giants though

An MRI of Giants RCB Terrell Thomas' (ACL surgery) troublsome right knee revealed an injury "involving the ACL."

Analysis: Thomas will undergo exploratory surgery to determine the extent of the damage, but it's quite possible he's re-torn the ACL that cost him all of 2011. If that's the case, his career could be in jeopardy, while the Giants would likely be forced to turn to 2011 first-round pick Prince Amukamara opposite Corey Webster. Even if Thomas has avoided re-tearing his ACL, there's almost no chance he'll be ready for Week 1. Thanks to a foot injury, Amukamara played only 204 snaps as a rookie. No. 94 overall pick CB Jayron Hosley suffered a knee laceration in Monday's practice.

This is tragic for the Giants. Really sucks.

In the best-case scenario, hobbled cornerback Terrell Thomas could be back on the field in 4-6 weeks. In the worst-case scenario, his career could be in danger of prematurely ending at the age of 27.

Those are the scenarios laid out by Dr. Stephen Hunt, orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Atlantic Sports Health at Morristown (N.J.) Medical Center.

Thomas on Tuesday traveled to California to have his right knee checked out by Dr. Arthur Ting, the surgeon who performed both of Thomas’ previous anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions (the first in 2005 while he was at USC, the second last September). Thomas, 11 months after surgery, was practicing on Sunday when he slipped while covering Domenik Hixon in a one-on-one drill. His knee swelled up overnight and an MRI test administered by the Giants showed that there was new damage to Thomas’ right ACL. His ACL is not completely torn but it is injured and likely partially torn. Based on what comes out of tests in California, Thomas will either be shut down for another season or else he might be able to salvage a portion of this season.

“Best-case scenario for him is that it is in fact a partial tear, meaning that a decent amount of the ligament is in fact still intact and working,’’ said Dr. Hunt who has not examined Thomas. “If he’s going in for a diagnostic arthroscopy, where they put the camera inside and they find a few frayed fibers and not a whole lot else going on I think his prognosis is really good to return this season. However if they find that the ligament doesn’t look great and the majority of the fibers are not intact he’d be probably looking at an additional surgical procedure down the road.’’

If the fibers are intact and the knee is stable, Dr. Hunt said after rehabilitation and a strengthening program Thomas might be able to return in 4-6 weeks.

If the knee is found to be unstable and the ACL damage too severe, Thomas would have to undergo another reconstruction - his third on the same knee in a seven-year span.

“His worst-case scenario is they do another reconstruction,’’ Dr. Hunt said. “These things take a long time. The biology takes a long time for full healing, the rehab is very difficult. This young man came back 11 months out and was fit to play obviously and he had this injury so he’d be looking at a very similar rehab if he’s having another reconstruction.’’

Dr. Hunt said he has never worked on a patient who required three ACL reconstructions. He said the re-rupture ACL rates are about 5-7 percent.

“I have been involved with people who have had complex revisions,’’ Dr. Hunt said. “A third reconstruction’s a lot on a knee. The bigger issue is each time you tear your ACL or have an ACL injury sometimes there are other injuries that are associated with it and that cumulative damage can lead to some worse outcomes overall.’’

Asked if a third revision could threaten to end Thomas’ career, Dr. Hunt said “I think potentially it has that risk for him, yes. Coming back from one injury’s tough, coming back from two is even tougher and I think the third the hill is that much steeper and harder to climb, but that doesn’t mean to say it’s not possible.’’

Glimmer of hope but not looking good.

Giants CB Terrell Thomas is scheduled to meet Tuesday in Pensacola, Florida with Dr. James Andrews. But doctors who have examined Thomas so far do not believe he has a torn ACL and they are optimistic he will play again this season.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas might not be lost for the season, after all.

After getting a third opinion, the projected starting cornerback has decided to try to rehabilitate his injured right knee rather than have surgery.

Thomas saw noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Monday, and he concurred with the advice that the five-year veteran received from Dr. Arthur Ting in California and the Giants medical staff on how to approach the injury.

New York Giants CB Terrell Thomas (knee) is hoping to start running this week with the goal of returning to practice. Thomas knows it will be an uphill battle to get cleared for practice and ultimately games, and there is still a chance he could land on Injured Reserve, but he has not heard that to this point.

The Giants need him so badly...

IR surprised me for Thomas. Was not expecting the Giants to go this way. CB is going to be a weakness for the Giants this year due to the injuries.

Thomas (knee) underwent surgery on his torn ACL earlier this week, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. Analysis: It was third ACL surgery in seven years for Thomas, who missed last year with an ACL tear before aggravating it again in training camp this year. He has already been placed on IR, ending his season.

His 3rd ACL surgery on the same knee. Ouch.
He is likely done and might want to start polishing up his resume.
I'm sure he will attempt one more comeback, but you can count on one hand guys returning to glory after 3 ACL's.

Giants DB Terrell Thomas suggested that he's expecting to be cut by the Giants. Analysis: Thomas is technically under contract through 2015. But he's coming off three ACL tears and only $1 million of the $17.4 million deal he got last March was guaranteed. "I am returning to football in 2013, hopefully with the Giants but my (contract) is up this year," Thomas wrote on his blog. "Most likely and hopefully I will be resigning with the Giants." GM Jerry Reese has already suggested that if Thomas is brought back, he might be moved to safety.

I hate to say it but it's time to cut 'em.

The New York Giants have a $6 million option on CB Terrell Thomas in March. They are expected to get out of that contract, but they might re-sign Thomas to a new short-term, low-risk deal later.

Way too many issues to pay him what he's owed.

Thomas (knee) restructured his contract with the Giants to a one-year deal Monday, ESPNNewYork.com reports. Analysis: Thomas' contract underwent a change not unlike what Michael Vick's did earlier Monday in Philadelphia, with both teams eliminating their long-term commitments to the players in question in exchange for a one-year 'Prove It' scenario. Thomas is making a comeback from his third season-ending ACL injury, so he'll have a lot to prove in training camp.

Was really hoping he'd be cut so I could drop him free of charge. Oh well.

CB Terrell Thomas announced his retirement Thursday. Analysis: Following his third ACL tear, doctors wouldn't give Thomas clearance to play again. The former second-round pick spent most of his career with the Giants before landing a training camp invite with the Seahawks this past summer. Knee injuries limited him to 60 appearances across six NFL seasons. Thomas had his best year in 2010, leading the Giants with five interceptions and 101 tackles in 16 regular season games. The USC alum won his only Super Bowl with the G-Men in 2011.
