Kaep has an injury guarantee so it will be interesting if he can't pass a physical by Apr 1.

Bad move by the 49ers! Kelly sucks and will bring the 49ers down in 1-2 years. They will be worse off then they are now, IMO

Kaep at QB, goes back to hand the ball off to RG3 who has Johnny blocking for him.

It's really the perfect plan. In all seriousness, I really think a team could make all that shit work. And a ton of fun to watch. Just take all of the college superstars that became pro cast offs, and throw them all into one offense. Dennard Robinson, Percy Harvin... all those guys could play a role. No, really, I'm serious. Stop laughing at me, I mean it.

Nick, you're not understanding... Shawn doesn't mean guys like Richardson.. To give you an example that's more close to home, I think Shawn is looking for guys like Ron Dayne.

Agreed. If Kelly manages to ruin this team more than it already is, THAT will be impressive. That said, I wouldn't be shocked if he found a way.

The man is an arrogant asshole. Why would anybody want him near a franchise. He is Belicheck without the talent and a bigger ego. I hope he loses every game

Chip out and the GM. Looks like they are hitting the restart button. Imagine Kaep will be gone too.

Reckon they will take Watson or Kizer @ 2 for sure.

Should've dumped the GM a year ago.  Kelly had no shot with the roster he was given, so I thought he would be given a bit longer leash but I guess he was a Balke hire anyway.  That whole front office and roster needs a total re-build.  Kind of surprising how fast they hit rock bottom.

Kelly is a turd, Baalke is an even bigger turd. York is a space ship sized turd.

I am a sad fan. At least York is willing to throw money at it. I read that he might be paying up to 70 million for coaches/staff who don't work for the team anymore.

Saying that tens of thousands of seats will be empty tonight. What a disaster. Why does California need 4 football teams? We know it is because the NFL wants money, but the only decent team will be leaving for Vegas.

I feel bad for some of the fan bases that lost their teams in the offseason, so that two teams could be in LA.

Back to the 49ers, wow. I thought their fans were pretty dedicated, but the product is crap. They said tickets were as low as $14 and no one is buying them.

How much of a different does it make that it's a Thursday night game as well? I know in the UK midweek socccer games have drastic differences in attendance.

Hell, if I lived there, I'd go on a Thursday night for $14.  I don't even care if it was the 49ers -vs- Rams.  I can still scream, yell, and root even if the team sucks.

I've been to Mariners games in the 80's when they sucked and there was only about 7,000 fans in attendance.  It was awesome moving seats to get close to the action.

I'd go if I lived there. The problem with the bay area is that there are a million things to do because it's still really nice out during most of football season. So if the football isn't good then you'll choose a much less expensive outing.

See, I could not imagine choosing to do something else instead of going to see my team play. I know people have other interests, but my life stops when the Packers are playing.

I'll probably watch the 1st quarter, or at least until my wife gets bored and starts begging for attention.

Well I guess we will see, but I find it hard to imagine turning my back on my team, it has been ingrained in me to support them no matter what.

I just thought that 49er fans were die-hard fans no matter what, and I was kind of surprised.

(Note these are ESPN #s and they seem inflated)

Since 2010, the 49ers have ranked between 11th and 14th in home attendance every year. And they are currently 12th in 2017 home attendance. ( per Espn stats)

Since 2008, the lowest attendance yearly average was 67, 512 and the highest was 70,799. So their fans are fairly consistent. They did see a small decline in 2016 compared to 2015 but have to factor in Kaepernick's protest.

(Strange note: 49ers average yearly attendance 2009-2013 was the same every year. Have to wonder if this is ticket sales numbers and not actual fans in the seats).

Still seems crazy to me.  Even when the Lions were 0-16 I think we had over 50K every game and many games in the 60K range.

Going to the games... especially in $14 seats, probably isn't as nice as watching it on your big screen in HD at home on a weeknight.

It didn't look too bad last night on tv.  The only numbers I could find still showed 70,000 but that is no way the number of butts in the seats.  Would've been a great bargain to go last night for $14 and see the highest scoring Thursday Night Game in history.  A lot more entertaining game than a lot of them in the first 2 weeks of the season.  You just never know what will happen at a game.
