Haven't seen it confirmed yet, but not a bad haul. Talk of recruiting Marc Trestman OC and Mike Smith DC. Looks promising on paper.

Quote :
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports the possibility of the Raiders moving to Las Vegas is "very real," and that owner Mark Davis has been discussing the possibility with casino magnate Sheldon Adelson for "two years."
Concurrently, longtime Raiders reporter Bill Williamson reports Las Vegas is "confident" about attracting a team to town. Almost assuredly, lots of this is hot air, but it's something to be taken seriously since the Raiders' Oakland situation is beyond tenuous at this point. The major roadblock is the NFL's extreme aversion toward appearing to support gambling. Of all the league's 32 owners, Davis is probably near the bottom when it comes to the kind of clout that would be needed to persuade for such a move.

Interesting...

This is where we need Al Davis -- he'd move the team to Vegas without regard to what the other owners thought. The leagues are afraid of Vegas but I think that it's time for one of them to put a franchise there. I don't think that the perceived increased risk of fixing of games is that real of a concern given the prevalence of online gambling and the money that the athletes are making. And it's tough for the NFL to tow the moral ground on this one after getting in bed with DFS, the beer companies, etc.

I agree. In this day and age, to think a team being located in Vegas or not as having any impact on such concerns is silly. It's no riskier than having a team in fucking Iowa. A team in Vegas makes way more sense to me than 2 teams in Los Angeles or 4-5 teams in California.

The NFL always tries to portray themselves as holier than thou so they'll push back...the powers that be are beyond hypocritical imo. There should be a team in Vegas no doubt. I love Vegas, and would be all about going to an NFl game while I was there

Mama always told me "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". When this broke yesterday I immediately got a chubby...but minutes later...reality set in. Flaccid and disappointed with reality I know that the league would shoot down any attempt at a Las Vegas/Raiders marriage.

I'm not going to get my hopes up about the possibility of a new home in sin city.

Raiders owner Mark Davis says the team will contribute $500 million to the Las Vegas stadium project if it's approved.
Quote :
Davis is going all in on the Vegas rhetoric, saying the move would "transform" the city, and that it would be "getting everyone who has worn the silver and black for the last 56 years." Davis added "together we can turn the Silver State into the SIlver-and-Black State." Maybe "together" the sides could, but they would still need the NFL's approval. That remains the great mystery in Davis' increasingly bold and public Vegas quest.

"We have made a commitment to Las Vegas and that's where it stands," Davis said. "If Las Vegas can come through ... we'll be the Las Vegas Raiders. I have never used a city as a bargaining chip. This is real." There's no ambiguity in Davis' words, suggesting it's more than just a leverage play. Davis says the team is ready to contribute $500 million if the city approves a stadium plan. If it's not already too late, it's beginning to look like now-or-never for the city of Oakland.

Disagree Nick...thought the movie was entertaining.  A little modern day film noir, with an edgy comic twist.  Enjoyed it...and the "dames" were very easy on the eyes.

But addressing the issue, would still hate to see the Raiders leave Oakland, again...In the interview with Davis, he said the City of Las Vegas has to vote it in at a cost of 1.4 billion.  Stadium would be indoors, air-conditioned, with retractable dome.
Liked this statement:

If confirmed, good news for Mario and the Nation...

Quote :
Raiders DE/OLB Mario Edwards (neck) said he's been medically cleared to return to football.
Edwards tweeted the news, but the Raiders have yet to confirm. Edwards was diagnosed with a genetic condition in December, and his career was in serious question for the past half year. The 2015 second-rounder was a pleasant surprise, playing well both as a pass rusher and run defender.

But, this does make me sad (along with a list of others)...

Baby steps...

The (currently) Oakland Raiders filed a trademark application for "Las Vegas Raiders."
The move does not mean the team is definitely going to Las Vegas, but it is another strong indication there is more than smoke surrounding the proposed move to Sin City. Owner Mark Davis has said the team will move to Las Vegas if the city "comes through" on a new stadium deal, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has already publicly supported the move, suggesting there is backing inside the league as well.

I'm not sure if it's a popular move by Raider fans, but living in Nevada, I'm all for it and excited about it. Vegas just picked up a NHL expansion team which I can be a fan of from day 1. And now if Vegas can get the Raiders, I would have to automatically become a Raiders fan.

I just read one of the proposed stadiums would have view of the strip, retractable roof, seat 65,000, with a price tag of $1.9 billion.

How did the Raiders wait this long to file the trademark application? And how is it possible that no one beat them to the punch in this day of cyber squatting, etc. The same is true for San Antonio Raiders. Maybe I should look into trademarking that name ... thinking

WOW! Raiders down by 7. Score the TD to make it 34-33 Saints with about 47 seconds left. Conventional wisdom says kick the XP and go into OT. Del Rio goes for 2pts and they convert to take the 35-34 lead. Brees completes some passes and the Saints PK gets a shot from 61 yards out with 5 seconds. The Rookie Kicker has plenty of leg, but it just drifts left.

My kind of coach, going for 2 to win the game. Or maybe didn't trust he defense with Brees on the field in OT? Either way, WOW!

I mean, if that 2pt conversion fails, isn't he going to be questioned from now til next Sunday? Guy has got balls of steel! I guess Del Rio just said, F conventional wisdom.

The Legislature better not fuck this up.  Now they're worried about handing out tax payer's money.  More like they're worried that if they spend it there, they won't have a enough for their own pockets and private ventures.

It's funny, I was always in the camp that government should stay out of funding these type of stadium deals.  And if the owners want it bad enough, they should find a way to do it.  Now that it's a matter of getting the NFL in Nevada, I'm all for the government helping get it done.  shrug   I'm such a hypocrite.   lol 2   What the hell, I've seen the state waste more money for nothing on a lot worse ventures.

The Governor of Nevada just made the official declaration for a special session of the Legislature to consider a room tax increase for Clark County(Las Vegas) to fund the building of a NFL type stadium.

The wife and I drove by the Capitol tonight and the news trucks were there.  Across the street was an Oakland Raiders semi & trailer parked in a dirt lot.  Gotta see if I can get out there tomorrow and snap a pic.  Here is the copy of the proclamation:
