Foster locked up for five years!

Very happy for Foster as I love his story.  I guess this means we'll see the Texans in the playoffs for at least the next five years?   Cool

Texans running back Arian Foster left practice early Thursday with a sore knee, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Analysis: Foster's injury is not believed to be serious. Houston coach Gary Kubiak sent Foster to the locker room as a precaution and he thinks he'll be able to play Sunday.

The bad news might be getting worse for Foster...

Arian Foster (knee, questionable) missed Texans practice on Friday and will be a game-day decision Sunday against the Dolphins.

We're becoming more and more concerned with Foster's availability. Per beat writer John McClain, coach Gary Kubiak "said he's optimistic" about Foster's Week 1 status, but "didn't sound real encouraging." Foster came down with a sore knee during the end of Thursday's practice. The Texans were concerned enough to give him an MRI. While they insist the exam came back clean, Foster didn't take the field on Friday and looks questionable at best for Week 1. Ben Tate would be a 25-touch candidate if Foster were to be inactive. For what it's worth, Foster told reporters Friday that he "expect(s) to play on Sunday."

Arian Foster is expected to play in the season opener vs. Miami, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Analysis: While this is good news, Schefter also noted that the Texans want to test his ailing knee in pre-game warmups before officially clearing him for battle though.

Foster will likely undergo a heart procedure in about a month, NBC Sports' Alex Flanagan reports.

Analysis: While Foster has been aware he's had a heart problem since he was 12 years old, it first became an issue for him on the football field in this season's Week 16 matchup against the Vikings, causing him to leave the game prematurely. Doctors will look to find what might be the trigger for the shortness of breath he occasionally experiences as a result of the heart ailment, but it isn't expected to be anything that will cause any major problems going forward. More worrisome is the 351 carries he piled up during the regular season to the tune of a ho-hum 4.0 yards per carry.

I don't care how routine the surgery is... heart surgery is serious shit.

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster said Friday he won't have a procedure to address a heart condition that forced him out of a regular-season game. Foster told ESPN Radio's "The Herd" and ESPN's "SportsCenter" that the heart ablation procedure will not take place after it had been reported that he was likely to have it. Analysis: Update to our earlier story. It seems as this heart issue for Foster will be non-issue for now.

(KFFL) Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (calf) left the team's practice Tuesdays May, 28 with a calf issue.
(KFFL) Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said he is concerned about the injury suffered by RB Arian Foster (calf) Tuesday, May 28. "It's always concerning," Kubiak said. "We'll see what's wrong, see what happens."

Squeaky bum time.

Arian Foster's strained calf will sideline him until training camp.

Foster limped off the field under his own power Tuesday before being carted to the locker room. The strain is painful enough to have him on crutches. Coach Gary Kubiak called it a "pretty good calf strain," but added Foster is "going to be fine." Kubiak also noted Foster will spend lots of time getting treatment at the team facility leading up to camp. It's not a good development for a player with an increasingly lengthy history of leg injuries, but it could have been worse. It creates another opportunity for walk-year backup Ben Tate to shine in OTAs and minicamp.

I'm pretty much convinced that Foster isn't making it out of this season healthy.

)Arian Foster (calf) says he'll "more than likely" be ready for training camp.
Analysis: It's notable because Foster is suggesting there's a chance he won't be ready for camp, even if it's a slight one. It was widely assumed when Foster went down in late May that he'd be 100 percent for camp, which is still over a month away. Foster has been spending time in a hyperbaric chamber in an attempt to speed along his recovery. It sounds like he would have missed multiple games were it the regular season. Foster has missed just three contests since 2010, but his increasing propensity for leg ailments is a concern going into his age-27 campaign.

i do hope he stays healthycause i love watching him run. But Ben Tate is itching to get off my bench.

Foster is always getting dinged up in mini camps/ pre season, but he always shows up BIG time during the season. My favorite rb in the league

RotoWire) Texans coaches do not want Foster setting another career high in carries, as he did last season with 351, the Houston Chronicle reports. Analysis: Foster appeared to wear down some under the strain of so many carries in 2012. That's why a healthy Ben Tate (just 65 carries in 2012) is important. In 2011, Tate rushed 175 times for 942 yards, allowing Foster to get more recovery time in games

Smart.

Yep - this is exactly what they need to do. Doesn't harm Foster's value at all either - more effective on less carries unless the wearing down carries over.

Analysis: Foster has been sidelined throughout training camp with a calf injury that he suffered several months ago, but the more pressing concern at this time appears to be a back injury that has "gone into his legs" and required an injection. He's now an extremely risky top-five pick, and with plenty of talented rushers available in the first round, it isn't a risk fantasy owners have to take.

Foster's dynasty value has been dipping for the last year now... I think it may be getting close to nose diving. It is only a matter of time between Foster's upright running style and the Texans overuse of him.

Its kind of weird to think about a 26 yr old whose dynasty value may be declining, but he is a RB, and a RB that has alot of miles on him (650 carries in college and over 1000 in the last 4 years in the NFL)... Maybe he works through these recent injury issues and remains productive for another couple of years, that certainly is possible, but the issues he is currently going through sure sound like the start of a major breakdown to me. I would definitely be concerned about it if I owned him...

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports believes the Texans will ease running back Arian Foster into the season. Analysis: The implication is that Foster's touches will increase gradually throughout the season as he continues to work his way back from a calf injury. Foster said on Thursday that he'd be ready for Week 1 but La Canfora didn't seem to be as optimistic.

Per NFL.com:

Arian Foster's season is done.

The Houston Texans running back will undergo surgery and miss the rest of the 2013 season with a back injury, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday, according to two sources informed of the situation.

Foster is battling a lumbar spine issue and hoped to avoid surgery, Rapoport reported Friday. However, after seeking out several specialists, it was determined Foster needed surgery.

The Texans are expected to announce Monday that Foster will be put on the Injured Reserve list.

Foster battled a back injury in the preseason and more recently a hamstring injury. He hadn't missed a game, but the three-time All-Pro rarely looked like himself most of the season. He had just three games with 80+ yards rushing.

The writing was on the wall last season and it was only amplified this past summer! This guy was overused and abused in college and up to this point in the pros, at some point even the most durable RBs are going to break down... I am not saying he can't come back next year and be an effective player, but I would be very skeptical that he will ever recapture his dominant old form... The beginning of the end is in full swing...

I am taking 12 games. The thing is that he is ULTRA productive when he plays. He plays 12 out of 16 games he puts up rb1 numbers. That is the appeal of Foster. He can be had for pennies on the dollar too which is great.

Coach Bill O'Brien indicated that Foster (hamstring) is "definitely" a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Bills, Deepi Sidhu of HoustonTexans.com reports. Analysis: The report notes that Foster will be worked out by the team Sunday prior to a call on his Week 4 status. Fortunately for those considering Foster this weekend, the Texans kick off at 1:00 ET. If Foster is out or limited Sunday, Alfred Blue would once again be in line to see added duties, after recording 78 yards on 13 carries while filling in for Foster in Week 3.
