Fair trade. Long term I still see the Dez side winning it.

Wallace and Larry are throw aways.  Beckham is a complete unknown with a proven knucklehead history (guys that Andy tend to avoid.)  The 1st and 2nd don't close the gap (for me) personally.

Picks are too chancy to give up a bonafide stud like Dez.  (Not that I don't love picks and drafting guys, I just can't give up a top five talent at a position for lottery tickets.)

I agree with Justin here, I don't think those players and a late 1st and 2nd are enough value back, and I don't even like Dez much myself... but I understand it a little bit if Andy has determined he can't keep him next year and the rest of this year is a question mark as well... I don't buy the line that he will be back in 4 or 5 weeks, the exact injury he sustained has cost plenty of other athletes far more time... I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up lost for the entire season...

I agree with Chris.. I think Dez is out for the rest of the year. It looks to me that Andy made the call that he wouldn't be able to retain Dez and this year he wouldn't give him anything.. At least with this, he got more than Franchising him.

Seems pretty fair to me but when you have so much pieces, it's hard to give a fair assessment.

I would take the Dez side, but I do like Andy's side as well...... As long as he drafts guys that can be immediate impact players... And as long as Green-Beckham turns out to be as good as I think he can??

Andy may have gotten the better long term deal if these things happen. But getting Dez is huge for anybody, especially the Africans and their good team

I don't like evaluating trades that involve 74 parts. Oops, better make sure that's accurate - 13 elements changing hands.

There were not 74 parts. It was Dez Bryant for DGB 2016 1st and 2017 2nd. The rest was trash of no value.

I generally think the team that gets the best player in the deal normally wins the trade. In this case, Dez still has several quality years left even if he doesn't play this year. DGB is a gamble, but I am becoming more of fan of his each day. If Mariotta keeps getting better, DGB could be solid contributor next year.

Dez has an exit value of a 1st if you franchise him and lose him so that wipes out the first.

Well, yes, but also by trading Dez now, he has his franchise tag available to use on someone else. Maybe Luke Kuechly.

You're not wrong, but with such a limited number of ways to protect players, it's relevant.

For me it basically came down to the chance to acquire a proven stud without giving up much or anything from my starting lineup. Wallace (he is undervalued by the group imho) will hurt a little in the short term but I have some WRs like Garcon or enough TE depth to cover I think

I don't like mortgaging a bunch of the future (especially the 100 wb) but getting a 26 year old in his prime seemed too good to pass up

Waiting to hear some explanation for acquiring a guy like DGB, who falls under the "knucklehead prone" category a la Josh Gordon, which is the antithesis of the type of player you usually go after... I get dumping Dez when you have already made up your mind that you can't keep him beyond this year, but gambling with a player like DGB seems so out of character... let's be real here, DGB has, at best, a 50/50 chance of hitting... and the 1st and 2nd from Ian will probably be late picks in the bottom 4 of the round, those players are also not going to be "sure things", although you could probably get at least one IDP stud with one of those picks.

I don't think it was a bad deal, and I actually like DGB in the long run, but it just seems like a deal the Eternals never makes... waiting on boom/bust rookies is not exactly the Eternals MO.

I look at this from two different sides. What Andy got versus what Ian gave up.

Andy GOT:

-DGB, who is a talented prospect
-Pick ~9-12, depends on where it falls
-Pick ~21-24, depends on where it falls
-Wallace, a serviceable WR3

Ian GAVE UP:

-DGB, who is a talented prospect
-Pick ~9-12, depends on where it falls
-Pick ~21-24, depends on where it falls
-Wallace, a serviceable WR3
-Super Franchise Tag - 100 WBs

Ian GOT:

-Dez, for playoff run and beyond

Now, could Andy have gotten better for Dez? Maybe. Did Ian give up a LOT? Yes. The hidden cost of both the 100 WBs and the ability to use the tag on a different player is big. Overall, I'd take Andy's side. But I don't think there is a loser in this one. The deal made sense for Ian.

Remember it isn't necessarily $100 WB right off the bat. People like to forget that. An extension 100% protects a player too and adds another year to their contract. Just food for thought.

True, but Andy extended Dez this off-season. So it would cost Ian double (40Wb's i think...?) to extend him again. That's real expensive for 1 year.

Interesting to look at how Andy did with Dez overall too. He traded him off me on January 4th this year, so Dez played 1 game for Andy. Here's the January trade:

England Dragons gave up:
Brown, Donald SDC RB
Bryant, Dez DAL WR
Moore, Lance PIT WR
Williams, Kevin SEA DT
Ayers, Akeem NEP LB
Carrie, Travis OAK CB

Minnesota Eternals gave up
Woods, Robert BUF WR
Allen, Dwayne IND TE
Year 2015 Round 1 Draft Pick from Cybertron Screamers
Year 2016 Round 3 Draft Pick from Minnesota Eternals
$15.00 in blind bidding

If I remember correctly, the other guys I sent to Andy were expiring contracts so I think we can discount them. Andy then spent 20Wb's to extend Dez. So, in total:

Andy spent
Robert Woods (2yr)
Dwayne Allen (2yr)
2015 1st (it was 1.06 I think)
2015 3rd
35Wb

Andy got
Doriel Green-Beckham (4yr)
Mike Wallace (2yr)
Larry Donnell (3yr)
Year 2016 Round 1 Draft Pick from Atlanta Africans
Year 2017 Round 2 Draft Pick from Atlanta Africans

About even? Upgrade at WR, downgrade at TE, lower 1st round pick, upgrade from mid 3rd to late 2nd, lost 35Wb.

What do you think?

Agreed. And the one thing that keeps getting overlooked is the risk of reinjury. It's possible that he plays a game or two, tweaks the injury, and has to shut it down.

The injury speculation is always amusing to me - the fact is even the docs seeing him don't have a firm grasp of the timetable so when other people try to give predictions it's even more ridiculous mock

Even if Dez is able to come back around week 8, it will take him a couple of weeks to regain his endurance. Since it is his foot, he won't be able to run.

Why yes, yes I am. Simply because his value is about the same now as it was then.

Look, I don't get many right often. I puke when Andy puts some of those old trades up. I'm sure I had a plan, but even I don't know what the fuck it was.

So, when I get an opportunity....................

All I know is I needed WR help BAD!!  So when Andy sent me the offer of Wallace for Mallett, I had to say yes.  Plus I already have another bottom 10 QB in Smith, so getting rid of my other bottom 10 QB was the only logical thing to do.

I think it's a great deal for Craig. That's a ton of building blocks to reset that roster.

And that doesn't even mean that I think it's a bad deal for Shawn - it's hard to overstate how valuable Watt is.

I was talking to Craig a little about Watt and was willing to pay a lot, but not this much, so good job maximizing his value.
