Pierre Garcon rejects 5-year offer from Colts

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that free agent Pierre Garcon recently rejected a five-year contract offer from the Colts.
Monetary details of the proposal are unknown, but Garcon may be targeting Sidney Rice (five years, $41 million) money as opposed to Nate Burleson (five years, $25 million). While Garcon has been pegged by the Colts' organization as a priority to re-sign, he may prefer to test the market at age 25. Despite awful QB play in 2011, Garcon set career highs in catches (70) and yards (947).

Got to say though 70 catches and 947 yds with those sacks of shit QB's INDY had last year do seem like decent totals. However, if you chum the sea enough fish will jump into your boat. If Garcon had 130 targets or more then he didn't do anything that special. Not sure how much above 5M a year he wants, but if he's looking at 8M that's a pretty big hunk of change IMO.

I have a site that says 134 targets for Garcon in 2011. That's a 52.2% catch rate. That number is a lil lean IMO. 55% is like the mendoza line.

Well, go back to the "Shit" QB line and I am OK with his total, except he sometimes can't make the "easy" catch. Hands of stone sometimes. He can be exciting other times though. Worth 8M a year? Probably not, but I bet someone pays 7 a year for him.

I concur with yaa Demon. He's is a fast exciting player, he does flash those hands of stone a lil more often than one would like to see, and I bet you are right on the 7M. He may even get that 8M cause some GM's just can't help themselves.

interesting note about Garcon I read on twitter:

42.9% of Garcon's catches & 39.1% of yds in '11 came in 4th Q. Skins foolin themselves to think he's a #1 $$.

And the 'Skins following up:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Redskins are "on the verge" of signing free agent WR Josh Morgan.
It's expected to be a two-year deal. Like Pierre Garcon, Morgan is one of the league's most effective per-play receivers after the catch. The Redskins are looking to maximize Robert Griffin III's downfield playmaking ability. Santana Moss could move to the slot with Garcon and Morgan both in town.

Just to be fair Garcon did catch 70 passes for 947 yds and 6 TD's w/ Collins/Orlovsky/Painter throwing the ball. RGIII will only improve #'s

I concur. Guy is getting WR1 money and is WR2 talent. Skins are trying to make a statement though I guess so more power to them.

Not sure his numbers do improve given that there are 8 other WRs plus Davis (when he is back from suspension) to chew up targets...

Pierre Garcon left Sunday's game against the Saints with a foot injury and is questionable to return. Analysis: Garcon injured the foot on an 88-yard catch-and-run touchdown. He has four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown already. Aldrick Robinson came in for Garcon and made his first career catch, which was good for a touchdown.

Bad news for Washington but his owners will have to be content with the 20+ points for this week Laughing

The X-rays on Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon's right foot came back negative, according to NBCSports.com.

Analysis: Garcon doesn't have a fracture. That's outstanding news considering he has been Robert Griffin III's favorite receiver throughout training camp and the preseason. Garcon had 109 yards and a touchdown before exiting in Week 1.

Good news for Garcon.

Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon (foot) was held out of practice Wednesday. Analysis: Garcon is likely going to be questionable for Week 2 despite his optimism that he'll be able to play. It could be a tough call for fantasy owners if he's a game-time decision since the Redskins play at 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday. Hopefully the receiver will be able to return to practice tomorrow or Friday.

GTD on a 4 o'clock game is the worst.

Not improving...

Coach Mike Shanahan said after Thursday's "very limited" practice that Pierre Garcon's (foot) availability for Sunday's game will be a "pain tolerance" issue.

"I really don't know," Shanahan said when asked about Garcon's status. "He was very limited. We'll have a better idea tomorrow." There's no concern that Garcon will do further damage to the ball of his foot, but Shanahan isn't sure if Garcon will be able to play through the pain. This will likely come down to a Sunday morning decision. Garcon owners can protect themselves by adding backup "X" receiver Aldrick Robinson.

Though Garcon wants to run and test out his foot prior to Sunday's game against the Rams, he is unlikely to play, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Analysis: The Redskins kick off at 4:05 ET on Sunday, which complicates matters for fantasy owners inclined to wait it out, but the odds don't look good here for Garcon. Aldrick Robinson would likely see added opportunities Sunday if Garcon sits.

Bench 'em.

Coach Mike Shanahan acknowledged Thursday that Garcon's foot injury is "nagging a little more than (he) thought it would," Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan DC reports. Analysis: Garcon was, not surprisingly, limited at practice Thursday, with his status for Sunday's game against the Bengals still looking cloudy at this point.

Not like RGIII needs 'em!

Booooooooooooooooo!

Pierre Garcon (foot) is listed as doubtful for Week 3 against Cincinnati.

It's actually a downgrade from last week's questionable tag, which suggests Garcon either had a setback or hasn't made any noticeable progress. He's not going to play against the Bengals. The Redskins can turn to a rotation of Leonard Hankerson, Santana Moss, Josh Morgan, and Aldrick Robinson out wide. Garcon missed last week, too, and TE Fred Davis' role didn't increase substantially.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said WR Pierre Garcon's (foot) injury is painful and it affects his running downfield. It is an injury that will require rest.

Fantasy owners can't trust Garcon until we see him produce on the field again. This injury could limit him for the next few weeks if there's no setbacks.

I still thought it sounded like a Lis Franc sprain.

The plantar plate tear in Garcon's right foot could require surgery, the Washington Post reports. Analysis: While surgery is not necessarily imminent, it's clear that the injury doesn't allow Garcon to play at full speed, so it's a possibility. While surgery is something Garcon obviously hopes to avoid, or at least postpone, it's unclear when he might play again, with a course of rest presumably his best bet to avoid any foot procedures.

Another tough break here.

Pierre Garcon confirmed Tuesday that there's been "no real update or miracle that happened overnight" with his injured foot. Analysis: "We're going to try to go after the bye, see how it feels," said Garcon. "We're trying to avoid (surgery) at all possible cost. But at some time you've got to be realistic and you've just got to have it." Garcon said the foot is feeling better this week, but "it's still not what it needs to be." The Redskins' record and place in the standings will not affect Garcon's decision to go under the knife.

He does not sound remotely optimistic. Wouldn't be surprised if he's done for the season.

Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon (toe) said Sunday, Nov. 18, that he had no setbacks during the Week 11 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. "The foot felt all right," Garcon said. "It wasn't 100 percent but it was good enough to play, good enough to go out there and help out as much as I can."

Even though his stat line sucked today (and on a day that RGIII threw four touchdowns) it's encouraging that he's out there and feeling better again especially considering that he was contemplating surgery.

Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon (foot) is still debating whether to have surgery on his foot, but is leaning towards resting the foot. Garcon should make a final decision in the coming weeks. Garcon does not like the idea of having a surgery that would require three to four months to heal, but offer no guarantees of correcting the issue.

I loathe the hospital so I can't blame him haha.
