Quote :
While Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said receiver Marvin Jones (foot) will miss "a couple of weeks" with a broken foot, Geoff Hobson of bengals.com says the receiver will likely be out 5-6 weeks.
Analysis: Jones, who had 712 yards and 10 touchdowns on 80 targets last season, had to get a pin inserted into his fifth metatarsal. A similar injury kept Mohamed Sanu out for the last five weeks of the 2012 regular season as well as the playoffs. Sanu will take Jones' place as the No. 2 receiver.

bengals | Marvin Jones to have surgery Tue Oct 14, 04:15 PM

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) will undergo surgery on his injured right ankle, according to a source. Jones was placed on Reserve/Injured Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Good. Sanu is better anyway. Hope he gets healthy as a human being but fuck if he is worth waiting for.

Just to piss you off Andy... laughing

Quote :
Paul Dehner via Twitter: Marvin Jones has resumed operating as the Bengals' No. 2 receiver at training camp.
He's back working at Z, with A.J. Green at X receiver and Mohamed Sanu entering in three-receiver formations. Jones opened camp running with the twos and threes, and continued to do so in Cincinnati's preseason opener. That may have been a motivational tactic to some extent. The Bengals need to get Jones' body back used to the physical grind. Jones is a better best-ball than re-draft pick, but should flirt with WR3/4 value this season.

ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini reports Marvin Jones is the top free agent receiver "on most boards."

Russini expects Jones to land a "HUGE deal" when free agency starts. Jones and Travis Benjamin are competing for the biggest contract among free-agent receivers. Both are entering their prime, but Jones has the edge on Benjamin because he's bigger and better in the red zone. The Bengals are interested in re-signing one of Jones or fellow free agent Mohamed Sanu, but with the way Jones' market could spin out of control, he seems likely to leave Cincinnati.

I think you are all crazy. Marvin Jones is going to go to Patriots and have a massive year.

By the way, Marvin Jones is available for trade to any team that wants to benefit for his next year's super production.

Such an overrated player. He's better than I originally thought some years ago but he's nothing worth getting excited about, talking about or paying big money to if your an NFL team.

Shut up. You are killing my superior marketing plan to move Jones for the 1.01. Now I am probably going to have to settle for the 1.02.

He'll be a solid WR2 somewhere next year. As long as a team takes him knowing he'll be the WR2, he'll thrive. He's just not a WR1.

The problem is I don't think he's smart enough for that. I've heard reports that he thinks he's a WR1 and he's certainly gonna get paid like one with this FA group.

Then he will wildly disappoint as "the man" next season. Such a shame, but a story we've seen before.

Agreed. That's why I hope the right team signs him. If he goes somewhere with a clear WR1 (Falcons for example), he'll thrive.

If he goes to the Lions as is rumoured, he'll think he's the WR1 and that could be trouble.

So you would prefer him to have no confidence or swagger and say "well im ok, not great..."

I guess we'll have to wait and see where he decides to sign. Thinking you're a #1 doesn't make you a #1.

Paying him as a wr1 could be a big mistake for an NFL team. I like the idea of an NFL team realizing he is a #2

I guess we could pretend that he never had a 10 TD season. He may not be the greatest in the world, but he could easily become the #1 guy on a number of teams.

Patriots, Ravens, Redskins, Lions, Vikings, Saints, Rams, Seahawks, 49ers

The year before he became a FA he had 1318 yards and 10TD's.

I like the landing sport for Jones. I think between him and Tate it gives Stafford some options. I don't expect Jones to replace Calvin obviously, but he'll be a solid WR2

It's like they are 2 WR2s and no real WR1. If they find one more WR2 (on their current roster, or through the draft/FA) they could have three WR2s and they might be set wink

According to MLive.com's Kyle Meinke, Marvin Jones has emerged as the Lions' No. 1 receiver.
Quote :
"And in recent days, it hasn't been all that close," writes Meinke. In Tuesday's joint-practice with the Steelers, Matthew Stafford attempted 14 passes in live drills, and Jones was the target on seven of them. He caught six of the passes, while no other Lions receiver caught more than two. Jones has been "catching everything in his orbit" this summer, and has taken over as Stafford's "favorite target" and the "clear-cut deep threat." Jones has a chance at his first 1,000-yard season this year.

The guys on XM Fantasy radio were talking about him today. I was listening with interest since I had just made a trade and accidentally put in Jones instead of Tate. They were projecting him for over 1,000 yards and 7-8 TDs. Optimistic projections but he does have the talent to do it.

I can see 8-8 for the Lions. I do not think they are a BAD team, but they are not quite where they need to be yet. I think the defense still needs help, the OLine needs a bunch of help, and learning to play without CJ may be an adjustment period. But who knows, maybe Stafford will benefit from being forced to go through his reads.

Not sure if there is anything more obnoxious than watching an overrated player have a huge day because of shitty defensive play and then having to listen to those who think said overrated player is good celebrating the day.

If you backed out the defenders tripping over themselves I suppose he still would have had a decent 4 for 85 yards or so but that's a far cry from the laughable 6-205-2 shit.

Marvin Jones is a stud. rofl
