PostSubject: Carolina Werewolves Press Room   Tue May 29, 2012 4:37 am

OK since the last three times something was asked of us I was wicked busy and I am through the rookie draft Gauntlet. Carolina Werewolves is up.

what was your initial approach going into the Auction Draft?

All auctions are different and have a different flavor and I initially didn't want to have a set strategy. I had one thing working against me. I had just finished an auction with Bob and Justin where I pretty much acquired every player that I loved. (BTW I am winning Casino guys.) I had put my cards on the table big time, and so I needed to do something different. The only thing I wanted to make sure of was to get an elite RB/QB/WR and build around them. I am (over) confident that I could find IDP gems.

2. Did you end up sticking to your initial draft strategy?
Didn't get the stud WR I wanted but I have already agreed in principle to a trade that will address that issue.

3. How did you divide your spending on Offense and Defense?

I just wanted talent and depth. I went after players in what I thought was a decent price point and very rarely overspent. I didn't care about offense vis defense spending. I just wanted to get to 22 players and then 40 being able to field the most consistent line up possible.

4. Any observations about the other owner’s approaches in the Auction Draft? (Good, Bad, Ugly, Surprising)

I didn't care for people purposely not posting players. I thought that the best strategy is to always have the full 36 up so that people would equalize spending on all of the players available. Some teams who didn't consistently nominate had too much money available too late. Just my 2 cents.

Bob did more with little money than some teams with triple the funds. Kudos. I thought he was screwed but ended up with some good players specifically in the secondary and D line that he picked up late.

5. What was your biggest “oh shit” moment of the draft?

When after 16 hours plus I got bid up into the 100's plus on Fitz. I had already let Cruz go and Nicks and AJ Green my other targets were already in the "uh oh" price range. I had to rethink my WR strategy on the fly.

6. How did the Auction go compared to your expectations and your previous experiences?

This auction was LOOOOOOONG. The 24 hour clock is not my auction pace at all. 18 is where I am comfortable and 12 hours I am a killer. I am a whiz at live auctions. My concentration had ebbs and flows. There were days when I didn't win a single player.

I expected the level of competition to be high and it was. The Terrible Twelve members really went after values once the first few days were done.

7. How happy are you with how you drafted? Where do you think you overspent
Reading what others posted about me I never overspent. The last bid I place on D. Thomas was a mistake. I meant to bid on Jennings instead. I felt that he was the guy I overspent on.

8. Was there a player you missed out on and thought you would own before the draft?

Colin McCarthy.

9. Who was the one guy on your team that you couldn’t live without and had to have on your team?
Rivers was a prime target. Top 5 talent with years of top production left. He is the centerpiece of my team. I go as Rivers goes.

10. Who was, in your opinion, the greatest steal on your team?
Daryl Smith $4. He starts for me at LB. Enough said.

11. What draft grade would you give yourself (A, B, C, or D)?

B+. I am going to come at teams in waves. Your studs better put up a ton or the 15-22nd starters on my team are going to put a hurting on you. I do need a few more studs to be able to win a title.

12. What are your overall thoughts on your team?

Solid blue collar team. The one position you can always find depth for is QB. Some one always gets hurt or loses a job. Waiver wire here I come. Otherwise I have good depth and a few future stars. (hopefully) I wouldn't be surprised if I get offers for my RBs before the season starts. I have a LOT of depth at that position. Not studs just solid young players.

13. Who are the 3 key players to your franchise?
Rivers, CJ, Marshal

14. What do you perceive to be your team’s greatest weakness?
QB depth but it is a problem I can fix through waiver wire, trade or next year's draft. Very deep at QB imo.

15. What is the best (most Depth) position on your team?
RB. Chris Johnson Gore and a ton of low end RB2's. Dynasty has become so WR needy that getting RBs that are young with upside is easy.

16. What are 3 things to watch for, out of your team in 2012?
The flexibility I have trade wise, my depth, I am the team you don't want to face when your studs are on bye week. The fact that I really don't have attachments to these guys which can be a great advantage when placing line ups and setting up trades.

17. What record would you predict for your team for 2012?
7-6 Last playoff team.

18. What record would you predict for your team in the year 2015?
Either you get better every year or get worse. I think that I will be better in 2015 than 2012. How much I don't know.

19. Which other team was the biggest pain in your ass?
Loaded question really. Any team that didn't have their full 3 players up and did so consistently was a pain to me. That shit really sucked. I wish that the RWC would have come down hard on that especially since the TT auction went so much slower b/c of it. If you don't want to put up a player, let some one with the balls to do so have a chance.
20. Who was your MVP (Best Pick) of the draft?
Rivers is my MVP but when you look at points produced vs. cost I will take Steve Smith for 52 all day. Cam to Steve Smith is money in the bank.

21. Who do you feel has the strongest team right now?

Every team in the TT looks solid. I have a very tough division six to contend with. I am just going to play my game and see how it goes. (like my Lou Holtz impersonation??)

The GM of the 0-2 (yes that is my playoff record) Werewolves is pleases to anounce these draft picks.

3.3 Martavius Bryant, WR

3.11 Jeremy Hill, RB

4.2 Lamin Barrow, LB

4.6 Lache Seastrunk, RB

At the press conference when asked who Lamin Barrow was our defensive coach responded " A 3 down Linebacker, dumbass" This was Coach Ryan's personal pick. He went on to say " The SEC has the best defenders in college. Barrow will be our ILB and he will win in our scheme"

RWC I am going to do my contracts by position group. You can put them in at your leisure but this is the best way to keep me organized. if there are any issues let me know. btw I can't spell for shit but will look over spelling if it looks like the name isn't obvious. As you know I have players on the taxi. Let me know if it is easier to keep all players on the regular roster until I finish this.

Blake Bortles 4
Zach Mettenburger 2
Tom Savage 3
Kirk Cousins 3

12 for the position group which brings me to 62.

processed by RWC
