It really surprises me that he signed so quickly.  He didnt even test out the waters.  Why would you take a 1 year deal so quickly.  I thought Bengals were prepared to offer him a 2 year deal or something.  That one is really strange.

They've been able to talk to teams since Saturday. I'm guessing the waters were sufficiently tested. Gotta be careful if you're a RB, if you try and play the long-game, team might just say screw it, and sign someone else for less money.

According to mmqb.si.com, Raiders running back Darren McFadden has the starting edge over Maurice Jones-Drew but McFadden's injury history should make it a committee backfield.

Analysis: McFadden has missed 29 games in his six NFL seasons and never played more than 13 in any year, but the bigger concern might be his play when he's been healthy. He's rushed for 3.3 ypc and averaged 6.2 yards per catch in two seasons under coach Dennis Allen and OC Greg Olson. MJD should get a chance to start at some point, though he too struggled last year (3.4 ypc).

Hey now, if he stays healthy (a big if, I know)... but if he stays healthy he will have a very productive fantasy year. Any halfway decent RB could look like an All-pro behind that OL...

agree

Concur. Run DMc could be good with that OL. Not like DeMarco was ever the model of health during his time in big D. He stayed healthy during his contract season....surprise,surprise. Get a decent back up behind McFadden and nothing really changes. As I doubt Murray stays healthy anyway, especially after all those touches he had last season. Big D ran him hard in '14.

People focus on the injuries and ignore the fact that he sucked and got outplayed by rookies, fullbacks etc over the last few years for the raiders

They changed the run blocking scheme that did not suit him. Furthermore, I think he lost a little passion playing for such a losing franchise and that made him look even more pedestrian. A new team, new lease, better OL may light him up a lil. However, he will still likely get hurt at some point, as he is on the brittle side.

Ian has a point, McFadden was thoroughly and completely outplayed by Latavius Murray last year... but it can't be overstated how good the Cowboys OL is, if he stays healthy it would be almost impossible to not be fantasy relevant...

Obviously anyone can run behind that line, so yes, it is possible that McFadden can be somewhat productive. What is funny is that Dallas just went for Murray to McFadden. That is a steep fall.

I'd be willing to bet Jerry gets a running back in the first round this year.

Darren McFadden makes DeMarco Murray look like an iron man.

Stay away...stay far far away... wink

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill wrote:
calls Darren McFadden the "likely starter" for the Cowboys' Week 1 opener against the Giants.
This comes as a mild surprise after signs continued to point toward Joseph Randle getting the "start" Sunday night. According to Hill, the Cowboys "don't have a pitch count" for McFadden and could conceivably ride him for the game's entirety. That seems unlikely, and both Randle and Lance Dunbar should get work, but this further proves this is a situation to avoid Week 1.

Guy just can't stay healthy...  ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

Darren McFadden broke his elbow in an accident at home and will require surgery.
Quote :
McFadden reportedly practiced with the injury last week. He'll undergo surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss about two months. That means he won't be ready until the end of training camp. This only strengthens Ezekiel Elliott's already-tight grip on the starting starting running back job. Expect Elliott and Alfred Morris to see increased reps during McFadden's absence.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Darren McFadden (elbow) is expected to open the season on the reserve/NFI list. Analysis: The reserve/NFI works exactly the same as reserve/PUP, sidelining McFadden for the first six games of the season. If the Cowboys make it through the first month of the season healthy in the backfield, perhaps they'll try trading McFadden to a running back-needy team. Alfred Morris will open the season as Ezekiel Elliott's handcuff and is worth stashing in 12- and 14-team leagues.

It just never ends.

Darren McFadden (elbow, NFI) may never be able to fully straighten his right arm again. Analysis: The "home injury" McFadden suffered in June has been gradually revealed to be more serious over time. Already sidelined for the first six games of the season, it's possible McFadden doesn't suit up at all in 2016. He's a stretch to own in Dynasty leagues.

Holy fucking shit. Dropped his phone and his arm will never recover.
