How to fix the Browns in one off-season...

1) Sign K. Cousins or trade for Alex Smith- there is no need for the Browns to "fart around" with trying to develop a young QB. This long-suffering fan base needs a winner now!

2) Draft S. Barkley at #1 overall- He's the best player in the draft imo, at an impact position--RB.

3) Draft the Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick at #4.

Thoughts???

0) Fire Hue Jackson. I think he is a talent minimizer.

I second firing Hue Jackson...he is the main problem. Just like canning Fischer did for LA.

Cousins or Smith are no brainers...get a pro at QB and this team goes from crap to competitive, not big winners overnight, but competitive...they have a lot of key pieces already in place.

I agree with nabbing one of the FA QB's. They have failed with drafting QB's, and it is a high miss rate. This way they could draft great players at other positions.

How Hue has a job is beyond me.

I wouldn't mind them finding a QB in FA. Gives the Giants their choice at #2 then. It would also keep the Giants from drafting Barkley, which I think would be a mistake.

Why would Cousins or Smith go to the Cleveland Browns? Smith could go in a trade but I see no situation where Cousins would choose to go there.

No situation why he would choose them?

QB's seem to be a different breed and in control of their own destiny a lot more. Teams will give both of these QB's blank cheque books so I'm sure they will choose a team or offense with more talent.

I don't think the Browns lack talent though. And they will add a ton more with 13 picks this draft. I don't see that position as totally unattractive.

It's the head coach that is unattractive. And possibly the owner...

QB needy teams ranked by offensive talent IMO:

Jags
Cardinals (if Fitz back)
Giants
Broncos
Browns
Dolphins
Jets
Bills

Not taking into consideration defense in which the Browns are surely bottom 2 from that list.

Massive factors.

I don't know if I would say the Giants have more pure talent potential on their roster than the Browns. Cleveland should have some guys take some big leaps in the next couple years, and they have the most good, young talent on both lines in the league. I cannot fathom why they would stick with Jackson at not even interview someone like Josh McDaniels.

Also, sweet colors, Ross!

This would be the thing that would keep most away...

The reason I like Alex Smith to the Browns is he has already gone to two separate bad teams (49ers and Chiefs), given them relatively mistake-free and consistent play, and been at the helm as they turned things around...

I agree with Ross though, best place for a QB is the Jags

I think Hue deverves a chance to finish the rebuild he started with a gm that will work with him. AJ McCarron is a good qb and would have been a upgrade to Kizer. Let Hue have a QB, there is a lot of good young talent that he has accumilated. One more year with a solid free agent QB and the Browns go from 0-16 to 8-8 at least.

I love that this thread starts with the talk of Childress possibly being the OC for the Browns and how bad Childress is. The guy had the worst play calling of all time, besides Ben MacAdoo.

Don't you think Sashi Brown, the former GM, deserves more credit for accumulating the talent, and Hue deserves more of the blame for who played when and how they were prepared?

It's my understanding that Hue did the drafting

I would have the Browns over both the Broncos and Cardinals easily.
