He's tougher than most people give him credit for. Check this out:

Have to wonder at what point he hangs em up. At this point he is undoubtedly looking at lifelong consequences.

Now there's talk of Romo being out longer, possible 8-10 weeks.  You think?  I wondering if there's even 8-10 NFL career games left in that body of his?

I don't see Romo voluntarily retiring but I do think that the Cowboys will need to think how they go forward if Dak is impressive or even puts up a Neil O'Donnell/Phil Simms like performance. If that happens, the smart move is probably to stick with Dak.

I've moved on from Romo in a few leagues and may do so soon in others.

I've heard rumors of Dallas trading him but I can't see JJ trading him to another team. But I could see a situation where Jerry offers him a coaching or front office position and Romo retires because of the health issues. That would allow both sides to save face and start looking forward.

Well it's only a 1QB league, and I have Cam, Dak, Ryan, and Tyrod so I didn't quite laugh at it, but didn't consider it.

If I had QB depth I'd certainly take a 4th for Romo at this point.

I remember Palmer getting moved for a 3rd in a lot of leagues last year. I'd have to check but I think that Palmer and Romo are about the same age. Palmer wasn't injured. And Palmer was putting up high-end QB numbers. Given that value, I'd jump at a 4th for an old, injured, QB that, at his best, is a top 10-12 QB.

Not for a 4th, not for me anyway. But Romo is just looking brittle.

With as much money as he has made, how many times do you need to break your back before you just call it a career? I get it, he loves the game and has a ton of passion but at some point you have to ask if it's worth it.

Classy...

Quote :
Speaking in an emotional Tuesday press conference, Tony Romo said Dak Prescott had earned the Cowboys' starting job.
"As hard as that is for me to say, he’s earned that right," Romo, choked up, said as he read a pre-written statement. "To say the first half of this season has been emotional would be a huge understatement. Getting hurt when you feel like you have the best team you’ve had was a soul-crushing moment for me. It’s a dark place. Probably the darkest it’s ever been." It was a raw, honest moment from an elite player who has lost his starting job. The Cowboys officially have the best backup quarterback in the league. Although he's 36 and injury prone, Romo should attract widespread starting interest if he continues his career in 2017.

Yeah I saw that interview. Like Andy, I am not normally much of a Romo fan but you have to give credit where credit is due that was a pretty classy move.
Although its not like he had much of a choice, Dak had already won the job.

Next year, Brock Osweiler will be backing up Tony Romo, both of whom will be Houston Texans Quarterbacks.

Yeah, Dallas would love it. Freaking Romo's cap number next year is $24.7M. He will definitely have to restructure with whoever they trade to.

Romo coming in for 1 series, scoring a TD and then getting taken out says to me that they wanted to give him a send off out of respect - but they didn't want to risk injury so looks like they are shopping him for trade.

Scary thing if someone picks him up is that really good team will suddenly have a lot of Cap to play with!

So which roster is he on in 2017? Cowboys, Broncos, Texans, Jets, Bears, 49ers, even the Jaguars have been linked to him now.

Broncos would be best scenario for both parties. They're still a QB away from going back to the Super Bowl. Lynch still isnt ready to lead them there. If Lynch is the starter you're throwing away a Super Bowl opportunity in my opinion. Sign Romo to a 2 yr deal and give Paxton time to grow.

I agree with Dan. Denver would be my guess too. They did it with Peyton, so Elway wouldn't be scared to try it with Romo. My 2nd choice would be the Texans. He stays in the state of Texas, but different conference.

I wouldn't think so but stranger things have happened. I love the media pumping it that Jerruh is going to do right by him and release him so he can pick his team. No Jerruh, no one will trade for him and his contract, and you will be forced to dump him.

I don't think so. I agree with Nick's post on that. I see it as the Peyton Manning show from a few years back where Romo flies from city to city talking with the various teams and then choosing from there.

I think Denver would be the best fit for him, and the fastest path to success.

Or the Jets I think they need a QB too. rofl

Free agent Josh McCown is visiting the Cowboys on Wednesday.
Following his release from the Browns last month, McCown said he had heard from four or five teams, but the Cowboys have been the only team publicly linked to the soon-to-be 38-year-old. There's said to be mutual interest. Signing McCown would pave the way for Dallas to move Tony Romo.

My question is why would Denver want to take a chance on him since he as proven that he cannot make it through a year without getting seriously hurt? Also how much are you willing to pay him for a 1 or 2 year contract, he won't sign for the league minimum but i can't see anyone really giving him a salary in the millions.

I'm pretty confident that the Texans will get him. He'll definitely take a pay cut, but he'll still get paid well.

Although I think the Broncos would be a good fit, I don't think Elway will trade for him. He'd have to be released. Jerry Jones is such an ass. Yesterday: "we wanna do right by Tony and release him" Today: "Maybe we'll wait and be greedy."

Pissing match between Houston and Dallas could be fun to watch for a while. Ultimately, I think he lands in Houston.
