Have to wonder if he'll ever be the same player again. Hand-fighting is a big part of his game. Not only has he lost a finger, but he probably did all kinds of nerve damage and it sounds like he effed up his thumb as well.

Quote :
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Giants are working on a contract compromise with unsigned franchise player Jason Pierre-Paul. Analysis: The G-Men could place JPP on the reserve/non-football injury list if they wanted to, costing him six games and saving $5.5 million. Per Rapsheet, the G-Men want to "avoid" paying Pierre-Paul's entire $14.8 million salary after he blew off a finger in a July fireworks accident. It's an understandable stance. Otherwise, JPP is reportedly in excellent football shape. It sounds like he could see the field in September.

Nice.

One thing for sure...He should have fewer "holding" penalties called against him this year... surprised2

Ed says "so"...So it must be "so"... wink

Quote :
Pierre-Paul's amputated finger has healed fully, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.
Spin: The report further notes that Pierre-Paul feels he can play in Week 1, but that remains an unlikely outcome. Nonetheless, this is promising news for IDP players who bought a discounted Pierre-Paul on draft day, as it appears he could well be back by Week 2.

Sounds like it could be more than a month before JPP signs his tag. His hand isn't ready yet.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports the Giants' negotiations with unsigned franchise player Jason Pierre-Paul about a revised contract have "broken down over differences of opinion on his readiness to play."

This is getting uglier. Complicating matters is that Pierre-Paul can no longer be placed on the reserve/NFI list if the G-Men want him to play this season. Typically, reserve/NFI means six games, but it would be the whole season in JPP's case since 53-man rosters have already been submitted. Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports the issue with Pierre-Paul's health is his ability to create a "forceful grip" as his hand heals. It's looking safe to say JPP won't be on the field this month.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reports Jason Pierre-Paul is missing a "portion of his thumb" in addition to his "entire" index finger.

JPP's outlook is growing bleaker by the day. It's getting harder and harder to see 26-year-old pass rusher playing a snap in 2015.

So he posted a cool little video of him working out on instagram. Beware shitty NSFW music -

https://instagram.com/p/7q-B2Sj2P1/

Here's what his hand should look like, minus a little thumb tip. (This isn't his hand but shows what one looks like with the procedure he had up close.)

Now as nice as the video is it sort of has dick to do with his hand. Nice to see him still working out though. He has a TON of motivation to get back. Every game he misses is 900k.

I wonder if he was like a NYG fan or something Evil laugh

Would be on par with what I've read. No index finger and a half a thumb. Gonna make picking his nose and hitch hiking awfully tough. wink

How did he sign it though?!?!??!?!

Giants re-signed DE Jason Pierre-Paul to a one-year contract.

The exact terms are unclear, but JPP is believed to be getting less than he would have under a prorated franchise tag. Pierre-Paul was scheduled to make $870,000 per week under his $14.8 million tender. FOX Sports reported earlier Tuesday that JPP would have the opportunity to make back some of his lost cash through incentives. The plan appears to be for Pierre-Paul to debut in Week 10. It's wholly unclear how effective JPP will be after mangling his hand in a fireworks accident, but his return is a major positive for a pass rush that's generated the second fewest sacks in the league.

I think it's temporary, but he missed that tackle on Millers TD because of it.

Monday was the first time that I really had a chance to see JPP play this year. He definitely isn't the same guy that he was the past few years. I'm not sure if its the conditioning or the hand but both seemed to play a factor.

Is that really his hand?  Although, after asking that I'm wondering who else's hand it could be.

That has to be one of the most disgusting things that I have ever seen.  And makes you wonder how he can ever fully use that hand again.
