Quote :
Packers WR Greg Jennings admits that 2012 could be his last season in Green Bay. Analysis: Jennings is scheduled to hit unrestricted free agency after the season is up. "Whether the contract comes with Green Bay in the near future or (with) one of the other 31 teams, that's the reality of it," Jennings said. The 29-year-old (later this month) has been dealing with a concussion recently, but has been a durable player throughout his career, missing just three games in his past four seasons.

Might be a good time to sell high midway through the season.  Unless he's picked up by the Patriots or the Saints his value takes a big hit.

I think they rest him since it is a Thursday night game and Jones/Cobb are picking up the slack. It would give him an extra 10 days to get right before week 3.

NEWS OF NOTE

Greg Jennings likely to sit versus Bears

Green Bay Packers WR Greg Jennings (groin) appears unlikely to play in Week 2 at this point because of his groin injury.

Still listed on NFL Injury Report as Did Not Participate in Practice

Alex Flanigan of the NFL Network just reported that Packers WR Greg Jennings will be inactive for tonight's game. James Jones and Randall Cobb are expected to see action in his place. Jordy Nelson of course will see plenty of work as always.

Coach Mike McCarthy noted Thursday that Jennings (groin) is not where the Packers hoped he would be at this point, Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Analysis: It sounds like Jennings experienced some sort of setback in the wake of practicing Tuesday, but it's unclear if it was a minor soreness issue or something that could impact his Week 3 status.

Gah

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Greg Jennings (groin) said Friday, Sept. 21, that he was able to take some snaps in team drills Friday, and he is going to play in the Week 3 game against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Sept. 24. 'I'll get through it,' Jennings said. 'I'm a positive guy. I'm not completely worried about it lingering too bad. It is what it is.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jennings doesn't sound confident in his effectiveness for Monday night. He shouldn't be used as more than a flex play, if at all this week.

Effing Monday night games.

Just listened to him on Sirius 210, Fantasy Sports Channel, he said and I quote, "I have to get back on the field first."

Gonna bench him in the few I have him. He didn't sound real positive today.

Greg Jennings conceded that he is open to shutting it down until his groin injury fully heals. Analysis: Jennings has pulled his groin twice in four weeks. He sounds on board with coach Mike McCarthy's suggestion that he should simply sit out in an effort to get healthy. "I would definitely err to the side of caution when it comes to something like this simply because if it's going to continue to be an issue, I'd rather take the time that I need to eliminate it altogether," Jennings said. We fully expect James Jones to start opposite Jordy Nelson against the Colts Sunday.

I'd plan to be without him for a couple weeks.

Coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged Thursday that Jennings is considering surgery on his groin after seeing a specialist, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writer Tom Silverstein reports. Analysis: While no decision has been made on this front yet, this is not what Jennings' owners want to hear and at the very least it seems safe to assume that we won't see the wideout Sunday against the Jaguars.

Analysis: It's another setback for Jennings and while he may be able to return from surgery in a few weeks, fantasy owners should consider him unavailable for the forseeable future. James Jones and Randall Cobb will benefit most from Jennings' absence.

According to coach Mike McCarthy, Jennings -- whose surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle went well -- will need a couple of weeks at a minimum before he comes back, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writer Tom Silverstein reports. Analysis: While that's not as specific a timetable as we'd like, it is an encouraging one that suggests that it's at least possible that Jennings could be back in uniform before the end of the month.

Don't expect him back in form before December.

The question is: How will the Packers use the two-time Pro Bowler? "I don't know," Jennings said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "We'll see. Obviously they're probably going to err on the side of gradually implementing me in there. If I had a say, I would just say just let me go. I'm good. There's no need for that.

One NFC scout tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that impending free agent Greg Jennings' market will be "much smaller" than Vincent Jackson's in landing a five-year, $55 million contract last year.

Analysis: "I put Vincent Jackson last year up in the elite spectrum, a Pro Bowl-caliber player," the scout said. "He's also 6-5 and still can do a lot more things. Greg can't compete with Vincent right now." Jennings is prepared to play for another team in 2013 because "the Packers are going to do what's best for the Packers. And that's not going to change whether you're No. 4, No. 80, No. 85, No. 77."

So... Miami?

Impending free agent WR Greg Jennings placed his Green Bay home on the market Monday. Analysis: For an asking price of $525,000, you can have Jennings' 4,788 square-foot house that is located 10 minutes away from Lambeau Field. It appears the Packers have already told the seven-year veteran that they won't be among the teams pursuing him when free agency opens in March. They're ready to move forward with Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Randall Cobb as their top three wideouts.

The Packers have decided against franchise tagging Greg Jennings, paving the way for Jennings to test free agency.

This significantly increases the odds Jermichael Finley returns to Green Bay. The Packers briefly considered tagging Jennings, but doing so would have cost nearly $11 million and he's not worth that much money entering his age-30 season. Jennings' likeliest suitors in free agency appear to be the Dolphins and Vikings, although more teams will enter the bidding. We anticipate Jennings receiving significantly less than the $12 million annually he's purportedly seeking.

Jennings is slated to visit the Vikings on Thursday, ESPN.com reports. Analysis: After trading Percy Harvin, the Vikings are eager to upgrade at wideout and Jennings is the top name available at the position in free agency. A return to Green Bay is not out of the question, but if Minnesota (or another yet to be identified team) is willing to make him a strong contract offer though, Jennings could quickly move out of the Packers' price range.

Not sure how I feel about this. I don't think Jennings would do well in Minnesota with Ponder at QB. The only reason Harvin put up any stats was his big-play ability. Jennings doesn't have the athleticism that Harvin does. IF they could get him cheap enough I suppose it wouldn't be a bad signing and he could mentor the guys they draft.

He wouldn't be a bad signing at a fair price, but he wants a huge contract... he's 30 years old and injury prone, he's a temporary bandaid for the Vikings, not the answer. I think they would be better off signing a younger free agent and then take a guy in the draft, the WR's are the strength of this years draft class.

Why? You didn't do that when you traded away your second best player for scratch-offs. You didn't do that when you said you weren't bringing in anyone to compete with your inept QB. You didn't do that when you punted Winfield. Don't start now.

At least when other teams suck testicles they end up with a top pick in the draft. The Vikings have been committed to winning a pointless few games every year to effectively fuck that up too.

As opposed to trying to pretend what they are doing makes sense...yeah. I don't really care cuz it isn't my team to run but I like to see idiots get fired or get shamed or punished or whatever. I dislike strongly watching these dummies do what they are doing as if it should be going on.

They just went through how much nonsense to get approved for a stadium? Now you got the stadium so the plan is to embarrass yourself on it? I just want them to pick a direction...sell your soul (again) and go after every top player imaginable...OR....rebuild by tearing it all down and being so wretched you get good draft position and start bringing in young unproven players that MIGHT be the future.

Greg Jennings will not be here long enough to see a Vikings Super Bowl. At this point, not even termites will be on this earth long enough to see it. Greg Jennings represents the few games won that they do every year which fucks up their draft position while simultaneously not being enough to count for dick.

Go team go! I am pumped. This year is gonna rock. Purple pride hosers.

Andy is right. The Vikings are stuck in what I call; mediocrity hell. That's when you are too good to be a really bad team, but too bad to be a contender. Jennings would add about 2 extra wins this season. All that effectively does is worsen the Vikings draft slot by anywhere from 4 to 7 positions while still missing the playoffs. Honestly, at this point, the goal is to be worse than Detroit, not better than them. 3rd place in the NFL North doesn't get you dick.
