Bowman (knee) took part in warm-ups but did not play in the 49ers preseason game against Denver on Sunday, CSNBayArea.com reports. Analysis: Bowman's injury wasn't disclosed originally but was later released that it was his knee that had been bothering him in practice early in the week. The fact that he was able to take part in warm-ups is an encouraging sign, he probably won't play in the final exhibition game and will be listed as questionable for the opener.

I hope he realizes he's one of my week one starters!

The most concerning situation now is a knee injury to starting linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who missed practice last week and did not play in the third preseason game in Denver.

I can't find out what this injury is or how he sustained it. Haven't heard ANY updates on his situation either. IDP guys don't get enough press...

Analysis: Bowman was all over the field during Sunday's win over the Packers, and despite being limited in practice due to an injured shoulder, Bowman's expected to play against the Lions without limitations

Something to keep an eye on.

Just awful. Hope he can come back from that one. After McGahee's college knee injury, anything is possible (still the standard for me when it comes to gruesome knee injuries, although Lattimore is up there too). I wish Bowman all the best coming back though, love his game, much respect.

That is definitely torn ACL and probably MCL also. That couldnt have happened at a worse time. Kiss 2014 season goodbye.

I actually missed that play so I gotta take everyone word on it....very unfortunate. It is really unfair when an injury that happens this year actually can screw a guy up for the next season.

Length of rehab depends on if there is broken bone, torn meniscis, along with the ACL. Meniscis requires rest. ACL requires rehab. When you get the multiple injuries sometimes you have to rest longer for certain parts to heal before you can start the rehab. It also depends on position. Linebacker does not have as much sharp cutting at running back, it would appear.

Pretty sure they would have stated if any bones were broken. Not trying to lighten it at all, still pretty serious if it's just an ACL. That being said, if that's all it turns out to be, it sure as hell looked worse than that.

Probably will not be at his normal dominance even after he comes back next year. His production will probably be much lower until 2015. They'll bring him back, my guess depending on Rehabs, around the 7th or 8th week. When he should probably miss the whole year.

AP ruined it for everybody. He is now the standard for ACL returns. I agree. It takes at least one year to fully be back to normal once you return to playing.

Profootballtalk.com reports the 49ers fear ILB Navorro Bowman injured both his ACL and MCL in Sunday's NFC Championship loss.

An MRI will reveal the extent of Bowman's knee injury. MCL injuries on top of ACL tears can delay the time of surgery, as Rob Gronkowski tore both ligaments this season and had to wait over a month before going under the knife. It appears Bowman is going to be very questionable for Week 1 of the 2014 season.

(KFFL)San Francisco 49ers LB Navorro Bowman (knee) will undergo surgery to fix the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, but the torn medial collateral ligament will heal on its own. There is hope that he'll be ready for the start of the 2014 season.

I highly doubt it. At least there is hope, but, damn, that looked so ugly. I really don't want to watch it again and they keep showing it when they talk about him.

I understand they had to keep showing the replay because of the fumble but was just hoping they'd quit showing. That was bad looking had to get up and quit watching for a couple minutes.

Bowman underwent surgery Tuesday to repair his torn left ACL, the Sacramento Bee reports. Analysis: Bowman's ACL procedure needed to wait until his MCL had healed, but now that he has been able to address that, he's looking at a six-to-eight-month recovery period. If Bowman isn't ready to start the 2014 season, a real possibility, then Michael Wilhoite is a candidate to fill in for him at inside linebacker.

Wishing him a speedy recovery. Thinking he starts the season on the PUP.

Bowman, who is bouncing back from a torn ACL, recently resumed sprinting, the 49ers' official site reports. Analysis: Currently on the 49ers' PUP list, Bowman will be sidelined for at least for the first six games of the season, but the team hopes that the linebacker can return to action at some point during the second half of the campaign. In the meantime, Michael Wilhoite is filling in for Bowman at inside linebacker.

Some good news for a change.

(KFFL)San Francisco 49ers LB Navorro Bowman (knee) is still having pain in his surgically repaired knee, and he's unsure when he'll be cleared to practice.

This doesn't bode well, IMHO.

Guy is a beast, but, let's be realistic. That was as gruesome as they come. I'm still not convinced he can come back and play anywhere near his pre-injury form. It's a rough one to even think about overcoming as a "normal" person, let alone the rigors of the NFL.

We'll see. I hope he does, but, not banking on it myself.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Friday that there is a "real possibility" Bowman (knee) will not play this season.

Analysis: The 49ers must either add Bowman to their roster or place him on injured reserve by Tuesday, and this report suggests there is a good chance the latter is the option they end up choosing. Bowman could still be activated and placed on IR at a later date too, so he won't be totally out of the woods if he is activated next week. All in all, Bowman's status remains uncertain until the 49ers make an official decision.

Not overly surprised but still a little disappointed.

Bowman (knee) will spend this week rehabbing, not practicing, Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Analysis: While Bowman was expected to practice last week, the fact that he is not practicing this week suggests there might have been a setback. He could very well miss the entire season.

Not looking good for Bowman. It's hard to imagine what it is like to basically grow a new leg.

Not good for Bowman.  That knee injury he suffered was pretty bad last year, and I had a feeling he wouldn't return.  Now the question is what do the 49ers do with 3 startable LBs??

Coach Jim Tomsula said Friday he expects ILB Navorro Bowman (knee surgery) to be on the field for the 49ers' pre-draft minicamp. Analysis: The 49ers hold their first minicamp in the last week before the NFL draft. Bowman missed all of last season after tearing multiple knee ligaments, and it's unclear whether he'll return as the same All-Pro player he was pre-injury. The 49ers will certainly hope so after losing Pat Willis and Chris Borland.

If anyone can return to form, it's Bowman.

49ers ILB Navorro Bowman avoided active/PUP to open training camp. Analysis: Bowman conceded during OTAs that the knee injury that cost him all of 2014 still gives him problems, but the 49ers' staff is confident in Bowman's potential to bounce back. If Bowman's health indeed holds up, he'll be an IDP monster in the middle of San Francisco's now-Patrick Willis-less defense.

Woop woop!
