PostSubject: Alfred Morris RB WAS   Sat Aug 25, 2012 7:29 pm

Quote :
Redskins rookie running back, Alfred Morris, bursted onto the fantasy radar during the team's Preseason game against the Colts. The 6th round draft pick out of Flordia Atlantic rushed for 107 yards on 14 carries along with a TD.

Analysis: Morris is quickly becoming a Preseason darling now that hes gotten some love from Head Coach Mike Shanahan the last two weeks. With Evan Royster and Tim Hightower both nursing injuries there is a good chance Morris starts for the Skins in Week 1.

Thanks but I'll pass.

Morris will start Sunday against the Saints and get a majority of the work, according to Grant Paulsen 106.7 THE Fan in DC. Analysis: Head coach Mike Shanahan waited as long as he could to name a starter and the surprise call went to Morris. There had been plenty of talk about it leading up to Sunday but Shanahan made the call to move Morris ahead of Roy Helu and Evan Royster, the latter of which was at the top of the depth chart yesterday.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan endorsed Alfred Morris as his starting running back Monday.

"Alfred right now is our starting running back," Shanahan said. In Shanny-speak, that means Morris is in line for zero carries in Week 2. Kidding aside, not even Shanahan will be able to pull a fast one after Morris rushed for 96 yards on 28 carries in Sunday's win, and generally looked at home in the Redskins' zone-blocking scheme. With Roy Helu and Evan Royster both waiting in the wings, Morris remains a tenuous long-term investment, but he seems likely to lead Washington's backfield in carries in Week 2 against the Rams.

I am loving Mike Shanahan this year. I am also loving Alfred Morris

I agree, but I still didn't get Royster dumped fast enough in a couple of leagues.

Shanny will roll with Morris after that game. Lots of confidence there. If Morris gets banged up Royster will step in. Helu is strictly a 3rd down back by the looks of it after week 1.

This is a dream Shanny setup. He's got three backs who can tote the rock with Hightower waiting in the wings. 3.4 yards per carry by Morris isn't very promising.
Hard for me to see Washington consistently getting that many plays a game.

Did they resign Hightower?

Not yet but you know Shanny. Just waiting a week or two so they don't have to guarantee the full year salary.

He's still driving a POS because he knows Shanny... You know we will never hear from Morris again... Shanny will pull some undrafted, 5'2" rookie running back out of his ass and he'll be the next big thing behind that zone blocking scheme. Just wait...

Exactly! I think they can't renew his contract for awhile too IIRC. He knows Shanny may wake up tomorrow and just for giggles give Orlandis Gary a call and give him 250 carries

At this rate, bump Helu. Shanny won't do this for long.

So, the dream of Elliot landing in Dallas is all but dead!

This should create a timeshare with McFadden, while that is good for the Cowboys, it is pretty bland for fantasy owners... and with dunbar re-signed to be the 3rd down pass catcher, I would guess that Dallas is set at RB for this year...

Fantasy owners can all stop salivating over Big D as a landing spot...

The answer is no. No, none of them have any value.

Value is relative to what you spend...

That being said, with this news, Alf's price will likely not leave much value.

good post

Neither DMac or Morris can catch the ball so Dunbar's roll seems a lot clearer with the Morris signing.

As a Morris owner in some leagues I like the change of scenery for him. I don't think his value explodes by any means, but at least he's out of DC. I've read and have seen some interesting stories on Morris. I think he's genuinely a good dude, so I will always root for him to do well.
